St. Louis Cop Charged in Russian Roulette Shooting Death of Fellow Officer, Police Say

A St. Louis police officer was charged with manslaughter Friday for allegedly shooting a colleague as the two played Russian Roulette, authorities said.
Hendren took all the bullets out of a revolver and then put one back in, police said in a probable cause statement.
Hendren took the gun back and pulled the trigger.
Police said Thursday that a preliminary investigation indicated that Hendren had “mishandled” the gun. Police Commissioner John W. Hayden Jr. called it an “accidental discharge of the weapon.”
Submitter's Note: Accidental discharge!!! Are you kidding me? The dumb cop pointed the gun at a person and pulled the trigger. This should be second degree murder. Sounds like special treatment for only one to me. |

These rifles/pistols are for one reason or another a product that I think will not only excite firearms enthusiasts but show innovation and growth from that company. While tens of thousands of firearms industry professionals including retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and media are gathered in Las Vegas for the 2019 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show, something subtle is happening out there in the hinterlands.
In New York State, the Grand Island Town Board this week declared via resolution that it opposed new gun control laws that infringe on the rights of gun owners, according to the Buffalo News.

In 1982, the handgun world was tipped on its head. In that year, Austrian thermoplastics engineer Anton Glock, who had no previous experience with either firearms design or manufacture, submitted a prototype hybrid 9mm pistol for the Austrian military service handgun trials. As history has documented, his submission bested all of the other competitors’ designs in the torturous reliability and safety testing. Shortly thereafter, his upstart firm would be awarded the vaulted contract to produce his firearm (the Glock 17) to supply his nation’s military and police forces. |

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a Second Amendment challenge to a gun control law for the first time in nearly 10 years. Arguments in the case will likely be heard during the court’s next term, which starts in October of 2019. During the opening decade of the 21st Century, the U.S. Supreme Court issued two landmark rulings that many hoped would revitalize the Second Amendment, which had been all but read out of the Constitution by activist lower judges that favored banning or heavily restricting firearms. |

At the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this past week – an annual trade show put on by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to finally hear another Second Amendment case is the second thing everyone is talking about – the first being the coolest and smartest new gun designs being unveiled. Everyone except Larry Keane that is. He’s the senior vice president and general counsel for the NSSF, and for him, the court’s decision is first and foremost on his mind. “With the addition of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, this case could be decisive,” says Keane. |

Since their loved ones were killed in the Las Vegas shooting in October 2017, the families of the 58 people who died have faced a difficult decision: Should the shooter's guns be sold and the proceeds given to the families? Or should the guns be destroyed? Now an anonymous donor has donated $62,500 to ensure that guns owned by the shooter, Stephen Paddock, are destroyed, according to an attorney for a court-appointed administrator handling the shooter's estate. The collection as a whole has been appraised at a value of about $62,300. |

Lawmakers in Vermont are considering bills that could strengthen or ease up restrictions on firearms. The Times Argus reports that the legislation includes a proposal to allow hunters to make guns quieter using suppressors. Democratic state Rep. George Till says many states allow suppressors. Till adds that longtime hunters frequently suffer hearing loss. |

An additional audit of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office found 50 weapons have gone missing or been stolen. The additional scrutiny comes after a previous audit found 29 guns were missing. That audit was conducted after an October shootout with a suspect led to the discovery of two stolen guns in his vehicle. The number of missing firearms turned out to be much higher. |

With the passing of legislation last year that allows the use of big bore air guns for harvesting big game animals in Texas, much interest in hunting/shooting with the power of air was generated. I have been asked what prompted me to begin shooting big bore air guns. My answer was a simple one. Shooting and hunting with a gun powered by air that could push a huge 350 grain bullet at well over 850 feet per second and develop 500 foot pounds of energy was totally new to me. |

State wildlife officials will hold two informational meetings next month on a proposed increase on limits for wild turkey hunting in Massachusetts. Turkeys are abundant in Massachusetts and harvest numbers have been stable, and “populations will remain robust statewide with increased harvest limits and expanded seasons,” according to a statement on MassWildlife’s website. |
