On Tuesday, January 28, the Senate Public Affairs Committee is scheduled to consider “Red Flag” gun confiscation legislation, Senate Bill 5, at 1:30pm. During the 2020 Budget Session, lawmakers are supposed to prioritize the creation of a state budget, however, anti-gun legislators are wasting time attempting to pass laws to undermine the Second Amendment and burden law-abiding gun owners. Your NRA-ILA has learned that the hearing will now be held in the Senate gallery and all firearms will be banned from the gallery during the hearing.

Virginia Sheriff Richard Vaughan went viral at the Richmond gun rights rally earlier in January for refusing to enforce the Democratic Party’s gun control laws. Now he’s telling the Daily Caller exactly why. Roughly 22,000 gun-rights advocates demonstrated at the Virginia capital. More than 100 localities in the state that have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries. City governments and sheriffs like Vaughan of Grayson County have vowed not to use their resources to enforce the gun control laws Democratic Gov. The solid copper hollow point bullet (SCHP) can be used in both rifle and pistol ammunition. All-copper pistol bullets have the familiar large hollow opening at the end, but rifle versions have a wider range of options. The different types of rifle ammo are for different sized game, and the hollow point in copper can expand in a variety of useful ways, depending on the intended target. A deer-hunting ammo, for example, will be much different than a varmint ammo. |

I listened to Billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s remarks after the attack at the West Freeway Church of Christ in Texas. I paraphrase, but you can check the video of his remarks for yourself. ‘It is the job of law enforcement to have guns and to decide when to shoot. You don’t want average citizens to have guns in public. That is the job of the police.’ |

Despite the peaceful, orderly, and diverse gun rights protest that attracted tens of thousands of law-abiding gun owners to the state capitol, Virginia’s Michael Bloomberg-bought General Assembly has continued to push forward a radical anti-gun agenda. In the Senate, the full body passed a dangerous “red flag” gun confiscation bill and the Judiciary Committee advanced another measure that would make it harder for Virginians to defend themselves and their loved ones. In the House, anti-gun committee members voted down a raft of bills that would have better protected the rights of law-abiding Virginians and measures that would have increased punishments for the criminal misuse of firearms. |

It has long been observed that the price of liberty is “eternal vigilance.” Presumably, this holds twice as true when one’s country stands alone among the nations of the world. America is, by explicit design, an exceptional place in which things are done differently. To its detractors, this difference is incalculably annoying: “This is the only country in the world,” Americans who envy others will gripe, “in which....” To its admirers, by contrast, America’s individuality is a source of both hope and pride. The United States remains the shining city upon the hill, the last great hope, the focal point for freedom around the globe.

Every year at SHOT Show, firearm companies continue to find new ways to innovate using time-tested platforms. Innovation doesn't have to just be technological or mechanical in nature, as several of this year's new introductions show. Finding ways to offer more ergonomic, affordable and reliable designs continues to be the goal of most manufacturers, and this year was no exception.
