I am pretty sure I have the world’s coolest job. I get to play with guns, write about it and then tell the IRS with a straight face it was actually work. Along the way I have reviewed some of the most remarkable hardware. I’ve written about old German machineguns, gangster weapons, tank cannons, high-speed race guns, sniper rifles and survival iron. All of it was honestly fairly worthless from a practical perspective. Then my friend and boss Brent here at GUNS sent me an email about the Bug-A-Salt. Amidst a sea of cool scary firearms, I think this may be the most practical. |

Military Ballistics Industries, also known as MBI, has made a relatively recent entry into the world of ammunition manufacturing. Launched in 2009, the founder of MBI was an active machine gun shooter and sought a way to produce high-quality, affordable ammo to help subsidize his hobby. Fast-forward to today, and the brand has a good reputation for their high-quality new and remanufactured ammunition, and their product line includes ammunition for the most popular calibers on the market – including 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 Auto and 38 Special.

Often times our drills and courses of fire are focused on a single distance and a single par time. While this can provide us decent training, it requires us to find other methods to broaden our skillset. Luckily, we’re not stuck with single stage drills. The Super Test, as created by Hardwired Tactical provides us a medium round count course of fire that tests a variety of skills, from very short to medium pistol ranges. How exactly does one shoot the Hardwired Tactical Super Test? |

With lame duck session for the Illinois statehouse to begin in just a few days, all eyes are on what happens with a proposed gun ban. House Bill 5855 would ban the future sale of nearly 100 different semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and pistols and require current owners to register them with Illinois State Police. It also would ban the sale and possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and prohibit anyone under 21 from getting a Firearm Owner ID card needed to own or purchase guns or ammo. |

Starting Jan. 1, Alabamans only need to rely on the Second Amendment rather than a sheriff-issued permit to carry a concealed firearm in the state. Republican Gov. Kay Ivey signed House Bill 272 last March after it easily passed the GOP-controlled state legislature. The fight for the measure over the past half-decade had to face persistent opposition from elected sheriffs in the state who contended that a move away from the permitting scheme long in place would trim revenue from their budget.

Arizona's Patriot Ordnance Factory has announced a new gun they bill as the first magazine-fed production 9mm lever action rifle ever made. The new Tombstone by POF-USA is the black rifle company's take on a modern lever-action chambered in a pistol caliber. "Initially offered in 9mm" the carbine uses the company's proprietary magazine already introduced last year with the Phoenix PCC. While this is sure to solicit quick groans from folks who already have lots of Glock, Beretta, Colt, or SIG pattern 9mm mags around the house, the company markets the new line of 9mm bananas in 10 and 20-round formats with a 35-rounder promised for a cost of about $30.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. — Robert Heinlein |
