On Feb 4, 5:15 p.m., at the Delta County Courthouse our county commissioners will vote on a resolution to reaffirm their oath of upholding the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. and state Constitutions. At the previous two county meetings and in a letter to the editor, those that oppose the commissioners doing this have stated: 1. this resolution isn’t needed or is redundant because they have already done so by taking their oath of office; 2. it’s not needed because the 2nd Amendment already guarantees those rights; 3. by passing a 2nd Amendment resolution it will make the county look terrible and therefore will reduce the amount of people that would come to the county and hurt tourism and local business (deplorables I guess); |

The Osceola County Board of Commissioners will be listening to supporters of Osceola becoming a Second Amendment sanctuary county.
At the Osceola County Board of Commissioners meeting this week, commissioners decided to invite Chairman of the Osceola County for Second Amendment Sanctuary Status organization Jay Moyer to speak at the first board meeting in February.
Though the organization originally asked for a special meeting to discuss the issue and present a drafted resolution, Chairman of the County Board Jack Nehmer said he believed it best to have them at the next meeting.
“I, personally, don’t have a problem with hearing what they have to say,‘ he said. “But, I don’t see a need to grant them a special meeting after hours.‘ |

Andrew Gottlieb is launching 2A Gaming as a way of reaching the millions upon millions of people who are steeped in firearm-based video gaming but non-committal when time comes to vote for pro-gun candidates. During the 2019 Gun Rights Policy Conference, Gottlieb explained there are tens of millions of American adults who play video games but only a portion of them are politically active. |

Investigators in the case of three sisters accused of killing their abusive father have been ordered by Russia's Prosecutor General's office to drop the murder charge against them and instead classify their actions as self-defense, their lawyer said Friday.
The case elicited widespread outcry after reports emerged that the sisters — 17, 18 and 19 years old at the time — acted after years of being beaten and raped. In December, Russia's Investigative Committee charged Maria, Angelina and Krestina Khachaturyan with premeditated murder, despite their lawyers arguing that young women acted in self-defense. |

The Senate of the Czech Republic passed a resolution on Thursday, urging the government not to restrict legal gun ownership in the country when implementing the European Union (EU) weapons directive and to create a petition committee on the issue, the Czech News Agency (CTK) reported.
The resolution came as a response to a petition signed by nearly 100,000 citizens. It was passed with a narrow majority.
The resolution stated that the Czech Weapons Act was sufficient for gun regulation in the country, rejecting further regulations by the EU. |

Lawmakers in Montpelier didn't wait long before trying to pass extreme gun control legislation. One would think that the state doesn't have any real problems, and legislators can focus on the pet projects of their choosing. No opioid epidemic or budget issues which need to be addressed. Just political grandstanding. Given these real world problems, it seems completely out-of-touch to be addressing "gun violence" in a state that ranks as one of the safest in the country. However, Progressives in the state, borrowing from their Washington, D.C. cohorts, seem to be ignoring that fact in pursuit of scoring political points with their extremist base. |

As expected, the Democrats in Salem are wasting no time trying to ram through their anti-gun agenda.
HB 4005, mandatory gun lock-ups, is now scheduled for Feb 7th at 1 pm in Hearing Room E at the State Capitol by the House Judiciary Committee. (Of course, everything is subject to change.)
This bill not only forces you to lock up your self-defense firearms, it punishes you even if you DO lock up firearms. While it penalizes gun owners if their firearms are stolen, it does nothing to penalize gun thieves. |

Anderson County discussed, but did not vote on, a resolution in support of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
County Commissioner Tim Isbel said at the meeting that the county Operations Committee had voted “to move ahead with a resolution in support of the Second Amendment.” He said the Operations Committee will vote on it next month, which Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank said would be Feb. 10. |

Gun owners from across the state are expected to converge on the Kentucky Capitol in Frankfort on Friday for a rally in support of the Second Amendment.
Organized by the group, We Are KY Gun Owners, the rally is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will include speeches from U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Dick Heller, a former Washington, D.C., special police officer whose landmark 2008 U.S. Supreme Court victory in District of Columbia v. Heller overturned the district's gun ban and, in doing so, affirmed the rights of individuals to keep weapons for self-defense in their homes. |

Anyone who remembers the mainstream media’s frenzied predictions of violence at showings of “The Joker” last year will find its coverage of the peaceful gun-rights rally in Richmond, VA on Jan. 20 strikingly similar.
Media outlets such as CNN and MSNBC agitated fears of violence ahead of the rally and anticipated a repeat of the tragic attacks in Charlottesville in 2017. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency and banned firearms from capitol grounds, saying that state intelligence found “threats and rhetoric online.” |

While the possibility of new gun control laws dominates national conversation, town councilors in a rural Morrow County community are rejoicing over the town’s recent passage of a Second Amendment sanctuary ordinance.
During newly appointed Mayor Juli Kennedy’s first official meeting on Jan. 14, the Lexington town council unanimously passed an ordinance that preserves Second Amendment rights in the community. |

I guess the .410 shotgun has always fascinated me since my misspent youth.
When my grandfather was still alive, he had friends who owned those old H&R Handy Guns — a .410 single-shot pistol that was a favorite of road hunters, especially during the Depression when the grouse or rabbit someone encountered in his travels might be all there was to put on the dinner table. Those old shooters just made sense to me, but the stroke of a pen back in 1934 made a lot of those guns contraband.

Both chambers of the Virginia General Assembly have passed major gun-control bills creating universal background checks, a red-flag law and reinstating the former one-handgun-a-month rule.
But a big piece of the Democratic gun-control agenda still hasn’t left the starting gate.
Legislation to ban assault weapons was withdrawn immediately in the Senate and a bill filed in the House of Delegates hasn’t been brought up for a committee hearing.
“The mechanics are still being worked on,” said Jake Rubenstein, a spokesman for House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, D-Fairfax. |

The Supreme Judicial Court today upheld a man's conviction for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building - more specifically in his case, for accidentally shooting a pal in the bedroom of his father's house by pulling the trigger on what he thought was an empty gun as he was putting it away.
Michael Kelly, who had hoped to sell the gun to the friend, argued that state law requires a showing of what the legal world calls mens reas - that he intended to pull the trigger and shoot his friend.
But in its ruling, the state's highest arbiter of the local legal world ruled: Nope. |

"That’s great, but when will you have a 9 mm?” If not discounted out of hand, that was one of two likely responses to the Smith & Wesson M&P380 Shield EZ chambered in .380 ACP. The other was, “I’ll take it.”
This gun in its .380 guise (check out our Gun of the Week video on the M&P380 Shield EZ here) represented a solution to what many gun company executives didn’t even know was a question. And while the industry was consumed by a no-longer-Quixotic quest to cram the maximum number of 9 mm rounds into the smallest possible package, an entire class of consumers was, perhaps, not given due consideration or engineering attention—until the Shield EZ. |
