Students with March for Our Lives Iowa said Tuesday they plan to focus during the 2023 legislative session on firearm regulations which can hold up to the newly implemented constitutional amendment. Group leaders held a news conference Tuesday at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Each year, the gun violence prevention group brings up “common sense gun policies” they plan to advocate for at the Capitol, but co-legislative director Waverly Zhao said Iowa’s midterm results will make implementing such measures more difficult. |

Alabama joined over 20 other states in making it legal to carry a weapon without a background check or permit on Jan. 1, 2023. Passing the Alabama House or Representatives and Senate in February, House Bill 272, commonly known as the “Constitutional Carry Bill,” was signed into law immediately by Governor Kay Ivey who said at the time, “Unlike states who are doing everything in their power to make it harder for law abiding citizens, Alabama is reaffirming our commitment to defending our Second Amendment rights. I have always stood up for the rights of law-abiding gun owners, and I am proud to do that again today.”

While 2022 may be in the rearview mirror, the year provided America with a close look at the deep divide between state attorneys general, with Democrats and Republicans on opposite sides of Second Amendment issues.
One side took actions supporting the Second Amendment and the other side supported restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms.

The 9.3x72R, introduced in the late 19th century, is most often chambered for drilling rifles. Many guns chambered for this cartridge were made in Europe as the third barrel of a side-by-side 12 gauge shotgun, the rifle barrel nestled below and between the shotgun barrels. This practical arrangement allowed hunters and gamekeepers to choose to fire a blast of shot or a bullet, depending on the game they were hunting. The 9.3x72R was developed initially as a black powder cartridge, but it did successfully make the transition to smokeless powder. |

This week two people reached out to me and asked for my opinion on if they should have a weapon mounted light on their everyday carry gun, and if they should carry a spare magazine. For what it's worth, here is my answer to that question. You don't have to agree with my stance on the topic, but I challenge people to make a thoughtful and educated decision. |

Parker McCollum is a proud Texan with a classic ranching and rodeo upbringing, who manages to exist on mainstream country radio as a singer whose life isn’t quite the truck-bed/field party revel that much of country music would have you believe. His music incorporates blues, roots rock, soul and folk rocker has been in the music industry since a very young age, selling out famous Texas venues such as Billy Bob’s Texas and Nutty Brown Amphitheatre, as well as playing for 73,000 people at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo in 2022; in 2022, he also received the ACM Award for Best New Male Artist., and his slow, sad country love songs show him to be a true romantic. |

House Bill 5855 would ban the future sale of nearly 100 different semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and pistols and require current owners to register them with Illinois State Police. It also would ban the sale and possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and prohibit anyone under 21 from getting a Firearm Owner ID card needed to own or purchase guns or ammo.
