"Although Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA) is obviously not the congressman of anyone living in the St. Louis area, as the incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, he will be in an important position of accountability to all Americans. Our responsibility, in turn, is to hold him to the duties inherent to that position, and to leave no ambiguity as to what is expected of him." ...

... "Blake’s sensible amendment to RCW 9.41.250 would legalize the use of sound suppressors on firearms, provided the suppressor is legally registered and possessed in accordance with federal law. That the proposal is getting bipartisan support should come as no surprise. Presently, it is legal for Evergreen State gun owners to buy and possess suppressors. You can even mount one on a firearm. You just can’t shoot that gun with the suppressor attached. How dumb is that?" ...

"Today’s editions of the Wall Street Journal, Fort Myers, FL News-Press, Dubuque, IA Telegraph Herald and Akron, OH Beacon Journal might alarm some folks, but all they need to do is look at Washington State to learn that new gun laws that have taken effect elsewhere, or may be on the immediate horizon, will not make the sky fall because such laws have been working here for many years, yesterday's drive-by shooting in Federal Way notwithstanding. More about that in a moment." ...

... "... Although it is still legal to openly carry a firearm in public throughout the state of California (unloaded under most circumstances and with certain restrictions) doing so in Los Angles will most likely result in your being shot and killed by police."

"So when did it become a de facto crime to carry a gun in Los Angles? In 1926, James E. Davis became the Chief of Police for the Los Angeles Police Department. He formed what he called his 'Gun Squad' where he instructed his officers to go out and kill anyone they came across who was carrying a gun (or selling liquor) and that he (Chief Davis) '...want(s) them brought in dead, not alive and will reprimand any officer who shows the least mercy to a criminal.'" ...

"... While we prefer to think of all scientists as infallible servants of humanity, as indeed some are, many are corrupted by the same vices that plague, say, auto journalism: money, power, pride, and politics. Others are simply blinded by emotion. And yet anti-gun advocates are quick to tout any study—no matter how flawed—as long as it agrees with their core beliefs. A recent post on Mikeb302000 featured this golden oldie: Gun Ownership As A Risk Factor For Homicide In The Home by Dr. Arthur L Kellermann, et al, circa 1993. Let’s take a look…" ...

"Iowa's new gun regs are go. The Hawkeye State is now 'shall issue' and allows open carry. Three days in and the state's librarians are up in arms. So to speak. According to The Library Journal (LJ), they’re looking to ban firearms from their premises. 'Susan Craig, director of the Iowa City Public Library, told LJ that the new gun law came up as part of that library’s recent Conduct Policy review and that after consulting with the city attorney the library is going to amend its policy to prohibit firearms in the library (concealed or otherwise). The policy will exempt police officers.' Hang on. Can they do that?" ...

"Gabe Suarez knows more about guns and gunfighting than I’ll ever know. He is, unquestionably, a better advisor on all things firearms than I’ll ever be. But seriously Gabe, WTF? On December 13, the gun guru dropped this blogging bombshell on warriortalknews.com: 'I am well aware of all so-called safety rules, but being anal retentive about this sort of thing only hurts your survivability n the real world for which we train. ... Certainly there is a place for 'finger off trigger,' but holding an adversary at gunpoint while he decides how to respond to your challenge and determines whether you will shoot him or not may not be it.' No matter what you call it, the AR-15 and its current iterations have proven themselves on battlefields ranging from the soggy jungles of Vietnam to the sandy dunes of Iraq. For the past 40 years, the U.S. Armed Forces have relied heavily on the M16, and most recently the M4 (a shortened M16). "Last February, I wrote an article about Arkansas Carry forcing the repeal of the concealed carry ban in Ben Geren Park. I also showed how the state firearms preemption law keeps municipalities and county governments from passing virtually any firearms regulations (except for the ‘unsafe discharge’ of said firearm). The need for this law is dire for many reasons; the most critical of these is to prevent a hodgepodge of conflicting city and county gun laws across the state." ...
