“I don't know exactly what he did, but apparently there are a bunch of very nasty people who are very angry with him,” Krafft continued. “The kind of nasty who don't see it as overkill to rape and murder a man's family in front of him before they necklace him. His telephone, cars and home are all listed in his wife's maiden name, and he has worked very hard to stay off the radar. But, unsurprisingly, he has a gun permit and your White Plains paper just put his name and address out on the internet for anyone to see.” |

Bank of America has reportedly frozen the account of gun manufacturer American Spirit Arms, according to its owner, Joe Sirochman. In a Facebook post dated December 29, Sirochman wrote the following: “My name is Joe Sirochman owner of American Spirit Arms...our Web site orders have jumped 500 percent causing our Web site e-commerce processing larger deposits to Bank of America. So they decided to hold the deposits for further review. “After countless hours on the phone with Bank of America, I finally got a manager in the right department that told me the reason that the deposits were on hold for further review -- her exact words were -- ‘We believe you should not be selling guns and parts on the Internet.’” |

Wild dogs mauled and killed four people whose bodies were found over the past two weeks in a park on the edge of Mexico City, authorities said Monday. In one case, a teenage girl frantically called her sister with her cellphone to plead for help as the attack took place.
Neighbours of the Cerro de la Estrella, a partly wooded, hilltop park surrounded by the city's poor and populous Iztapalapa district, first found the bodies of a 26-year-old woman and a 1-year-old child in the area on Dec. 29, authorities in Mexico's capital said.
The woman, Shunashi Mendoza, was missing her left arm, and prosecutors said that both she and the boy had bled to death and been partially eaten.
Then on Friday visitors to the same park found the bod

With supply low and demand high, gun owners flocked to the Ontario Convention Center this weekend to stock up on ammunition at the state’s first gun show since a mass shooting at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school reignited the dormant gun control debate and increased sensitivity across the nation to firearms. Some 6,000 people had filled the center by Saturday afternoon, and more than double that figure is expected to attend the event, which is open to the public and ends Sunday. The massive turnout is something even the Crossroads of the West Gun Show promoter didn’t expect. |

The New Year has started with a monstrosity of a budget deal, one that proves that neither political party, Democrats or Republicans, is really serious about controlling the growth of big government. But soap opera dramatics about fiscal "cliffs" and sequestration shouldn’t deflect from where President Obama is really taking this country. ... Some have said my warnings about a coming civil war between makers and takers are exaggerated. It’s true that Argentina’s politicians have been waging class warfare since Juan and Eva Peron–and they aren’t fazed when it turns bloody. Obama and the Democrats are relative newcomers to the game. |

Local newspapers across the country look for stories that will bring them national attention, but The Journal News, a daily nestled in a wooded office park in a suburb north of New York, may have gotten more than it bargained for. Two weeks ago, the paper published the names and addresses of handgun permit holders — a total of 33,614 — in two suburban counties, Westchester and Rockland, and put maps of their locations online. The maps, which appeared with the article “The Gun Owner Next Door: What You Don’t Know About the Weapons in Your Neighborhood,” received more than one million views on the Web site of The Journal News ... |

The American Civil Liberties Union and the American Medical Association are more responsible for the shootings at the Newtown, Conn., elementary school; at the Aurora, Colo., movie theater; outside the supermarket near Tucson, Ariz., where former Rep. Gabby Giffords was shot; and at the Oak Creek, Wis., Sihkh temple, than the National Rifle Association or any legal gun owners. |

Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato (above) told the Rockland County Times that since the Journal News published their now infamous interactive gun map three weeks ago, pistol permit applications have more than tripled in his office. He said about 50 persons have applied in the last two weeks. Normally in that span he might receive 15 permit applications, he said. Further making Piperato’s point, at a Friday press conference, Rockland County Legislator Aron Weider (D-Ramapo) publicly handed his application in for a pistol permit along with a check for $150. Weider said he did not want thieves to think of him as a soft target. “If that map is up, I want to be on the map,” Weider said. |

Calling for a “Gun Appreciation Day” two days before President Barack Obama’s Inauguration, gun rights activists are urging gun owners to turn “out en masse at gun stores, ranges and shows from coast to coast” on Jan. 19. The coalition — including the Second Amendment Foundation, Revolution PAC, Citizens and Country, Conservative Action Alerts, Women Warriors PAC, among others — wants supporters to organize against the president’s “post Sandy Hook assault on gun rights.” |

As the White House and anti-gun groups link arms and move to cram legislation down the throats of gun owners across the nation, it is long past time for gun owners to believe the ultimate goal isn't a total gun ban.
Before you think "there's no one saying they want to take away my hunting rifle or my shotgun" consider the fact that one town has already passed a ban on all semi-automatic firearms and removeable magazines. Similar proposals are coming up in other municipalities. It's unreasonable to believe others won't join in.
Regardless of what happens in Washington, gun rights are already under attack. |
