The Expansion Mono-Block, or EMB, line is Fiocchi’s premier low-penetration and rapid-expansion ammo, created exclusively for defense use. As of 2015, you’ll only find this in the 9mm Luger variety, making it a very specialized round comparable to Federal Premium’s Hydra-Shock personal defense rounds. The EMBs are part of the Extrema brand from Fiocchi, sharing some similarities with traditional hollow points and other expanding ammunition.

The leader of the Ohio House had pointed to that bill as an alternative to Gov. Mike DeWine’s anti-gun violence package – a proposal that is likely to be opposed by some Republicans. The Buckeye Firearms Association lists several problems with the bill from Reps. Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) and DJ Swearingen (R-Huron). Their biggest concern: that it would add substance abuse as a reason a person could be involuntary hospitalized in a psychiatric facility.

The number of NICS background checks conducted by the FBI in 2019 came in at 28,369,750, the highest mark since the agency began the program in 1998. After an adjustment for the volume of concealed-carry permit applications, renewals and other administrative use of the system, Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting (SAAF) estimates the figure reflects total firearm sales of 13.9 million firearms last year. |

You gotta love a “complete review” video that’s only 8 minutes long. Professional shooter Jerry Miculek knows his guns — especially revolvers. In the video below, he takes a look at the new version of the Smith & Wesson Model 19. The Model 19 is one of the best revolvers S&W ever built, and several have passed through my hands at various times. This includes the stainless steel version known as the Model 66. It’s a nice light comfortable smooth wheel gun that’s easy to use. But as Jerry tells us, the original Model 19’s “K frame” was not as strong as it could have been. In the new Model 19, he says that’s all been changed. |

Background checks initiated with the National Instant Check System (NICS) in 2019 set a new record and one of the nation’s leading gun rights advocates gives credit to the political party that ironically seems determined to prevent such sales.
Quoted by the Washington Times, Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, put it bluntly: “Democrats have been the best gun salesmen of the year.”

Virginia gun owners are making clear their plans for noncompliance as Democrats prepare to take control of the legislature and Gov. Ralph Northam (D) promises a war on guns. Since its introduction in 2018, the Ruger PC Carbine has become a major player in the field of pistol-caliber carbines. The carbine won the Shooting Illustrated 2019 Golden Bullseye for Rifle of the Year, and the gun has gained acceptance as a competition gun, self-defense gun and as a fun little plinker for a day on the range. One of the nagging little drawbacks of the PC carbine, though, is that there is only one short section of Picatinny-compatible rail on top of the stock of the gun, which limits your ability to attach a scope to your gun to just one small area on your PC Carbine. |

Whether it’s a church, school, or Walmart shooting, the response is the same: The media blames guns, people panic, and a gun control fury ensues, until it all dissolves and repeats weeks or months later. We saw this last week when a man opened fire at a Texas church, the day after a man killed several Jews with a machete. The Texas shooting was particularly notable because Jack Wilson, a former reserve deputy sheriff and a firearms instructor, shot the perpetrator within seconds of his first shot, boosting the mantra among conservatives: It takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun. |

With a roll call vote that was unanimous and was taken in front of a standing-room-only crowd, the Pendleton County Fiscal Court passed a resolution on Friday night, January 3, that makes Pendleton County a Second Amendment Sanctuary for the state. The move came in response to a growing concern across the state regarding pre-filed bills at the state level that serve to limit gun use and ownership at various levels and the new governor’s support of restrictions in situations where a threat is perceived, so-called “red flag laws.” The vote in favor of the resolution was met with thunderous applause.

While loving the simplicity of the strong and reliable single-action thumb-cocker, I’m savvy enough to also appreciate its swinging sidekick, the double-action revolver. Both revolver styles keep cartridge brass confined in the cylinder after firing, making it unnecessary to chase, a big plus for those with an aversion to bending over. More importantly, shelling out freshly fired brass into your hand is soothing and convenient, especially when you guard your fired brass like gold coins.
