Many people try to claim that the Founding Fathers couldn’t have conceived of repeating rifles when they drafted the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights. However, the story of Joseph Belton and his correspondence with the Continental Congress proves otherwise. If you’d prefer to watch and learn, the video I made above details the entire event. If you’d prefer to read about it, the story unfolds below.

After an improbable -- O.K., nearly interminable -- amount of time, (former) Harvard President Claudine Gay resigned her post last week after an almost overwhelming amount of scholarly misconduct came to light. In recent days, Gay has been credibly accused of turning a blind eye to antisemitism … and of multiple accounts of plagiarism.

This week, we’re discussing some of the incongruities that make it so difficult for gun-rights advocates to beat new gun restrictions even after the Supreme Court’s Bruen ruling.
To do that, I got a leading Second Amendment scholar to join the show. Robert Leider, an associate professor at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia School of Law, explains why even broad gun restrictions continue to make it into law, and challenges have been less successful than many might have expected. He lays out the “asymmetry of legal liability” at the center of the dynamic

The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has reversed an earlier order which put a hold on a lower court ruling that blocked California’s new law prohibiting concealed carry in most public places, handing a significant victory to gun rights groups including the Second Amendment Foundation.
The law had been blocked by U.S. District Court Judge Cormac J. Carney, who declared the statute “repugnant to the Second Amendment, and openly defiant of the Supreme Court.” The case is known as May v. Bonta. |

When the U.S. Military requested a new cartridge for the battlefield, Remington and Sig Sauer responded with their own variations of .277” diameter projectiles. Remington’s 6.8 SPC didn’t make the cut, and Sig went above and beyond, designing a revolutionary new cartridge and a rifle to boot.
Just because the Army opted to go with Sig’s .277 Fury doesn’t mean it’s going to be the best option for the consumer. In fact, there are a few reasons it may not be best for our guys in the field. Nonetheless, we’re excited to see the .277 Fury hit the market. |
