Senate Bill 5992, to be introduced to the state Legislature, would ban gun parts intended to increase the weapon’s rate of fire. The statute includes a ban on products that produce rapid bursts or other trigger functions. This includes bump stocks, devices that can be attached to a semi automatic weapon to increase its firing rate. A trigger crank is a similar device that also increases a firearm’s rate. Turning the crank allows a user to discharge several shots per revolution.

“I’m in my 70s. When I’m the victim of an unprovoked attack by a younger, bigger, stronger person(s) who is using only his fists, elbows, knees, and/or shod feet, how much of a pommeling am I expected to absorb, and for how long, before I employ deadly force in order to stop the attack and thus prevent myself from being injured/murdered?

With a newfound majority in the Washington Senate, state Democrats have found an early target in firearm regulation as the 2018 legislative session begins. Senate Bill 6049 would regulate the ownership and manufacturing of large capacity magazines and make them all but illegal in most cases. “Large capacity” refers to any magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. The bill was requested by Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who cited a motivation in mass shootings across the country, including a 2016 shooting at a house party in Mukilteo in which three were killed and one was injured.

Everyone reading it is free to disagree but such disagreement doesn’t include posting comments such as, “You’re stupid,” or “Says another dumb@$$ writer who’s never carried a gun,” etc.
