In Maryland, the gun laws — passed in the wake of two mass shootings at high schools this year and the massacre at a Las Vegas concert last year — are designed to limit access to firearms and certain accessories. They also might have cost Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) his high ranking with the National Rifle Association. |

Orinda's proposed ordinance defines "firearm" or "weapon" as "any instrument or device which propels a shell, shot, pellet, cartridge, bullet, arrow or other projectile by any force including, but not limited to, air, gas, explosion, spring, elasticity or leverage." This covers pistols, revolvers, shotguns and other firearms' air guns, any bow and arrow with a pull of 15 pounds or more, and crossbows and similar archery devices. |

Libby Gardner spent plenty of childhood hours in this neck of the woods, often riding atop the padded center console of her dad’s vehicle, keeping a keen eye peeled for the distinct outline of a ruffed grouse. On Monday evening, Libby curled up in a chair in front of a wood stove after a chilly day afield, grateful for those early memories — and eager to make more. |
