Someone recently brought a PSA Dagger in for a class, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot and review it. The Dagger Compact is Palmetto State Armory’s (PSA) response to the popular GLOCK G19. It is a 9mm semi-auto striker-fired pistol with a polymer frame and is basically a Glock Gen 3 clone. The big difference between the two is that the Dagger retails for $299 vs. a Glock 19 for around $500. |

I’m on record (extensively at this point) as being adamantly insistent that a weapon-mounted light (WML) is just not any kind of necessity on a daily CCW handgun. “Whoa, Tam!” says someone at this point, “Are you saying flashlights aren’t necessary?” No, I’m saying nothing of the sort. I don’t leave home without a really bright flashlight in my pocket (a SureFire EDCL-1T these days) and a fairly bright one on my keychain (a SureFire Sidekick).

Almost everyone wants a .50 caliber something. While the rifle options are ballistically superior, especially in .50 BMG, a .50-caliber pistol in the hand is worth more than the .50-caliber rifle somewhere else. There is, however, a time and place for a large, heavy projectile fired from a compact platform like a pistol. |

Also known as the .22 Savage High Power and the .22 Imp, the 5.6x52mmR was developed by Charles Newton in 1912. Savage Arms produced the cartridge and chambered their popular Model 99 lever action rifle for it. The cartridge that Newton designed was accurate, and was based on the .25-35 Winchester case, but capped with a 0.227 caliber bullet. It was initially popular among hunters around the world for its accuracy, and soon hunters were using it to harvest game animals of all kinds – including deer and safari animals like tigers. |

Today it’s often difficult to determine when the mainstream media is being deliberately deceptive or is just incompetent. Whatever the case may be, they are routinely wrong.
Take for instance a recent ABC News headline reporting that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) bump-stock ban:

CNN sounded the alarm Sunday, warning that the pro-Second Amendment makeup of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) portends an end to gun control “nationwide.”
CNN’s Tierney Sneed pointed to the June 23, 2022, SCOTUS decision in NYSRPA v. Bruen, noting that it not only struck down New York’s proper cause requirement but also set forward stringent rules for how lower courts must decide cases related to the Second Amendment. |

On Monday, October 3, 2022, the Supreme Court struck down another unconstitutional infringement on the right to keep and bear arms, restoring more Second Amendment rights. The Court granted the writ of certiorari. Then it vacated the existing opinion by the lower court. Then it sent the case back to the First Circuit Court of Appeals to be reheard in light of the Second Amendment decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen.

As Marlin fans anxiously awaited Ruger’s rendition of the classic levergun with trepidation, I never doubted it for a second. In fact, I was quite confident Ruger would deliver — and they did — to the applause of serious levergun loonies everywhere! Choosing the Marlin model SBL 1895 as their first-made Marlin model, Ruger knocked it out of the proverbial Rock ’em, Sock ’em Robot ring, stretching our necks and popping our heads in KO amazement!

The Mexican government filed another lawsuit Monday against U.S. companies it claims are responsible for the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico. The first lawsuit, which was recently dismissed, targeted U.S. gun manufacturers. The second, which Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said was filed in Arizona Monday, appears to target gun dealers.

It would hardly be called “bragging,” but a report at Mlive.com says Michigan has “four of the top 20 most violent cities in the nation, including Saginaw, Detroit, Kalamazoo and Lansing.”
The story says Saginaw last year bypassed Detroit as the city in Michigan with the highest violent crime rate, but a look at the raw statistics still places the Motor City at the top of the heap when it comes to the actual body count. Using data from the FBI Uniform Crime Report for 2021, which was released just days ago, the report notes Detroit logged 303 homicides last year, while Saginaw only posted 14. |

Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman (D), the Democrat nominee for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Pat Toomey’s (R) retirement, has had a number of statements from earlier this year brought back into the light. They come from when Fetterman spoke at an anti-gun event in April, which was hosted by Giffords, an organization dedicated to banning semiautomatic firearms and standard magazines, among other restrictions on the Second Amendment. |
