All wars are accompanied by their own ironies. And one of the ironies of the war against terrorism is that the Republican-led House, not the Democratic-led Senate, has become the main watchdog against attempts by the Bush administration to override basic American civil liberties. |

"Some analysts believe the growing use of charcoal burners in suicides since 1998 has also pushed up the rate. ... Yip estimated that 60% of those who used charcoal burners to commit suicide would not have killed themselves if they had had to resort to other methods."
KABA NOTE: Perhaps they will now outlaw those "assault charcoal burners" as well as guns. |

"The Seattle police officer who killed Aaron Roberts repeatedly wept yesterday as he spoke publicly for the first time about the May 31 shooting — how he feared for his partner's life, how he held a wounded Roberts and tried to tell him he would live, how he regretted having to fire his gun at all." |

The Senate paved the way Wednesday for action on anti-terrorism legislation as early as today if it remains bogged down over legislation to strengthen security at the nation's airports.
Feingold held up action on that bill Tuesday to force the Senate to vote on his amendments to add safeguards protecting civil liberties in dealing with wiretaps, personal records and searches of property.
At least one senator seems to be concerned about America's liberties. |

Maybe you should be, too ... since Ridge was so willing to compromise many of your freedoms during peacetime in Pennsylvania, what will he be willing to do during wartime throughout America? |

The gun-control crowd has failed to win many adherents in the South, where the obvious failure of their dogma can be spoken of openly. But what they failed to win at the ballot box looked achievable through the courts. Fortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court let stand a Louisiana Supreme Court opinion that ended at least one round of this mess. |

Serious Allegations With easy to follow instructions for confirming, challenging, , defeating and changing, thru political process; this insult to all free people. One of the hugest games played by the org. crime element of goverment, exposed & naked; vulnerable to concerted education and political challenge. Saddle up and ask to be shown all the cards.
KABA NOTE: Although this doesn't have to do with gun rights specifically, it has to do with challenging government abuses in general. |

Earlier today, the Senate, via a unanimous consent vote, adopted the amendment to allow airline pilots to carry firearms. The bill now goes to the House. This is an enormous victory for GOA members who lobbied relentlessly to sway reluctant senators. BUT THE BATTLE IS NOT OVER! Next week, the House will take up its version of the Aviation Security Bill. (See link for action you can take!) |

Handgun sales in MD have plunged this year and are on pace to reach their lowest annual total in more than a decade, the result of a new gun-control law that has slowed firearm shipments into the state.
Although demand for firearms has risen since the terrorist attacks, records show the number of people seeking to purchase handguns since Jan. 1 has dwindled dramatically, primarily because of the law requiring MD State Police to collect ballistics information about each new handgun sold. |

A member of a white supremacist organization has appealed Clinton Police Chief's decision to reject his application for a handgun permit, saying it violated his rights. Faughnan said Gibbs' active participation in the group as a "state coordinator and advocate" led him to reject the application, although "There was no allegation by anyone that Michael Gibbs had been or had any propensity to or had ever involved in any kind of violence."

"The most massive so-called "terrorist" attacks on U.S. soil since the Oklahoma City bombings of 1995, were known, a week ahead of time, by the American CIA. Among the foreign intelligence agencies who penetrated the plots were the French CIA and Israel's The Mossad, units of both often working with one another. Foreign intelligence sources confirm the validity of this story." --Sherman Skolnick, 9/11/01
