The XPB series is a line of ammo created and distributed by Barnes Bullets (well known among reloaders), an ammunition manufacturer based in Utah. These bullets are only used in large caliber handgun ammo, from the .357 up to .500 S&W and everything in between. The Barnes XPB features various nose shapes, but one thing is standard across every bullet type – the hollow point. This allows for maximum expansion on impact and phenomenal stopping power, no matter what you’re shooting. This particular style of ammunition is great for home defense, and is also fairly popular among handgun hunters who go after game like hogs and other handgun-friendly targets.

A few years back, during the first half October, my son hammered an 85-inch Booner pronghorn. I don’t tell you this to brag—well, maybe a little—but mainly because I just wrapped up a rifle hunt with a buddy this October, and it occurs to me that both hunts were full of similarities that lead to success.

What sort of gun laws might [St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter] have in mind? In February last year, the Star Tribune reported: “Democrats and gun control advocates have spent years pushing for a bill to expand criminal background checks to cover most private firearms transfers, as well as for a second bill enacting a “red flag” law to let courts temporarily remove guns from people deemed a threat to themselves or others. The first bill passed the House 69-62, the second 68-62.”

If you’ve been keeping tabs on new handgun releases since the last half of 2020 you know that full-size, competition-oriented 9mm handguns are a design that most major gun makers have rolled out. Most of these guns are simply longer-barreled versions of existing models, most with funnel-like extensions added to the standard magazine well. Many have ported slides and/or slides that will accept an optic. Rock Island Armory (RIA), known best for quality 1911-style handguns, showed up to the party in a slightly different fashion.

But you can't just walk out into the woods with a shotgun (or crossbow, compound bow, recurve bow or muzzle-loading shotgun) and start randomly shooting at fowl. In order to get a hunting license in Ohio, you must first pass a hunter education course.

It happened way too many years ago to even try to count now. A middle-aged man made himself comfortable in his modest Midwestern home preparing to watch an evening of television. He had just settled down when an invader kicked down the door and entered brandishing a weapon. He made the wrong choice of homes to attack. The homeowner happened to have his .38 Special at hand and fired on the intruder with finality. The police were called and they assured the homeowner he was not at fault and was not expected to be charged with anything.

There is no denying the effectiveness of muzzle brakes on rifles. Properly designed, they mitigate felt recoil by redirecting a select amount of the fired round’s gasses backward, upward and/or to the sides, thereby canceling some of the recoil force that would otherwise be sent back to the shooter.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don't like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don't expect freedom to survive very long. — Thomas Sowell
