... "... This morning, the Supreme Court denied David Olofson's Petition for a Writ of Certiorari ..."

"My thoughts on this outrage."

"Thus, in the scant few words of the e-mail above, does the Supreme Court confirm that it is impossible to get a fair trail in federal court where ATF misconduct is concerned, and that now the most that any of us can hope for when approached by ATF agents is an unfair gun fight."

"So be it."

"The time will come, when all the horrible unintended consequences of this case play out, that ATF agents will fervently curse the name of their fellow agent Jody Keeku and her vendetta under color of law against David Olofson. Nothing else the ATF has done in its long sordid history has marked them as an unconstitutional, feral gang of thugs like this case. ..." ...

"A couple separate recent incidents illustrate the fact that to the forcible citizen disarmament lobby, the Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms is only one of the freedoms that must be suppressed. To such people, when faced with concerned citizens who dare to speak out against citizen disarmament, the only option is to go after their First Amendment rights, as well." ...

"First, we have the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), a Pittsburgh area community college. Back in April, a student, Christine Brashier wanted to start a chapter of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC). ..."

"British authorities are apparently so satisfied with the results of stringent gun laws that they intend to use the United Nations to bring gun control to the United States." ...

"Despite previous U.S.-led resistance to international gun control, when U.S. ambassador John Bolton repudiated such efforts, Duncan and other supporters hope to have the U.N. General Assembly vote on a draft treaty later this year."

"Ironically, the same Britain now trying to export gun control has experienced an explosion in violent crime since virtually banning guns in 1997. In an article just three months old, the British MailOnline reports that England and Wales now have the highest violent crime in the European Union ..." ...

"With hunting season unfolding like the colors of autumn, the National Shooting Sports Foundation encourages five actions hunters can take during this time of fair chase and harvest."

"'We ask hunters to consider these thoughtful actions during this beautiful time of year when we enjoy the companionship of family and friends in the outdoors and the riches that nature provides for us,' said Steve Sanetti, president of NSSF. 'Each one of these actions reaffirms the value of hunting on a personal level and reminds us of our obligations toward wildlife and our fellow hunters.'" ...

... "The Second Amendment was not meant to serve the interest of the individual, much less college students who have no business and no use for firearms. More guns do not equal fewer campus shootings."

"Some proponents are quick to say that strict regulation and a required license will solve the problem."

"It will not. In reality, most people do not do the responsible thing."

"Chances are, if students are allowed to carry concealed firearms, they will not take the time and effort to train themselves and would cause damage to themselves and others." ...

"We need to get over our obsession with individual rights and be more sensible regarding campus safety."

"The headlines last week were filled with news of gun violence." ...

"If all that violence makes you want to get a gun to protect yourself, you might think twice about that." ...

"In far too many cases, people are shot by their own weapons -- either accidentally or during domestic disputes or even as they are being robbed. Worse, children are too often able to get their hands on loaded weapons with tragic results."

"And all this local gun violence comes in the wake of a new study released by a University of Pennsylvania professor that found people in possession of a gun were 4.5 times more likely to be shot in an assault than those not possessing a gun." ...

"... don't fool yourself into believing that because you're carrying a weapon, you're invulnerable to criminals -- or even your own friends or family members." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: I don't know of a single permit holder (and I know dozens) who believes a gun is some sort of magic talisman that makes you "invulnerable to criminals". That is a straw man argument made by the antis.

"Indiana has been a prime target of gun-control advocates for its loose firearms laws. By the same token, it's been a favorite of the Second Amendment lobby, which maintains government should not be about disarming law-abiding citizens."

"Now, it seems, we can forget about the 'law-abiding.'"

"A Star Watch investigation ... found hundreds of cases in which permits to carry guns were issued to persons whose backgrounds allowed, or even required, denial on the basis of better-safe-than-sorry."

"A sampling from Indiana's two most populous counties, the probe turned up men with records of actual and alleged violence who received passes to pack heat from Indiana State Police -- sometimes over objections from local police." ...

"Chuck Baldwin's excellent essay below gives some more details on recent moves by the Obama forces to seize direct control over U.S. police, quasi-private military forces, and to create new forces under control of the Party."

"Bill Marina and I paid a great deal of detailed attention to Bush's explosive use of the Blackwater, etc., private armies in Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond. There are now a few good books on them. In general, these mercenaries – highly paid, mostly former Special Forces from the U.S., Israel, South Africa, etc. – outnumber the regular military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan and beyond. The statement that the U.S. forces in Afghanistan are 65,000 is a preposterous Big Lie to hide the reality ..." ...

"The break-in occurred in the early morning hours last Monday. Only Guzman and his uncle were home at the time."

"The chilling encounter was captured in a call to 911."

"'Please, they’re breaking the windows,' Guzman told a dispatcher."

"The bear tried first to go in a back door and left. It then tried the garage, left the area and came back again at the front door, said Gary Morse, a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman. Each time, the family called 911 during the events that took place between 9 and 9:30 p.m."

"Pastor Ken Pagano ended his 30-year career last month ... saying that he wants to focus on church security and Second Amendment rights — a crusade he insists is better fought outside the ministry."

"'Thirty years was a good, long run, but it's time for a change,' Pagano told the Washington Times. 'If I can write my own ticket, I want to get involved more in Second Amendment issues as they affect the church, and I can do more from outside the pulpit than from behind it,' Pagano told the paper." ...

"Perhaps they feel they don't have to, because Sen. Reid enjoys the support of NRA--Executive VP Wayne La Pierre calls hims 'a true champion of the Second Amendment'--in spite of Reid supporting 'the most anti-gun president in American history' and in spite of his votes to confirm both Eric 'Ban "assault weapons" to fight Mexican crime' Holder and Sonia 'The Second Amendment does not apply to the states' Sotomayor." ...

... "Schwarzenegger and the CA progressives have won the day against rights and reason. All law-abiding citizens will be required to enter themselves into a database (including thumb print) that will track what handgun ammunition they purchase starting Feb. 2011. This is, of course, only for our protection as no criminals will be able to get their hands on ammunition any longer. In addition, micro-stamping of new firearms sold in the state will also become required under the new edict."

Arnold Schwarzenegger's (R-CA) decision to sign into law legislation (AB 962) he vetoed just five years earlier establishing a registry of all ammunition buyers."

"Requiring retailers to keep a log of ammunition buyers has been proven ineffective as a law enforcement tool, a compelling reality cited by the governor in 2004 when he vetoed the same legislation, calling it 'simply unworkable' and of 'no public benefit.'" ...

"The NYPD is amassing a database of cell phone users, instructing cops to log serial numbers from suspects' phones in hopes of connecting them to past or future crimes."

"In the era of disposable, anonymous cell phones, the file could be a treasure-trove for detectives investigating drug rings and other criminal enterprises, police sources say." ...

"A recent internal memo says that when cops make an arrest, they should remove the suspect's cell phone battery to avoid leakage - then jot down the International Mobile Equipment Identity number."

"The IMEI number is registered with the service provider whenever a call is made."

You can open carry in Montana. I could be standing next to you in a grocery store with my sidearm in the open. Would that make you afraid of me? Our Montana legislators can conceal and carry in the state Capitol. Has there ever been a shooting at the Capitol? Have you ever heard of a shooting at a shooting range?  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY
