"I remember watching All in the Family as a kid. My liberal mother loved the show. She saw Archie as a figure of fun, and rightfully so. The show dissed conservatives even as it gave voice to their beliefs. As it does above, with the 'laughable' suggestion that Alabama Governor George Wallace might not have been disabled by an assassination attempt if he’d had a 'rod' to shoot Arthur Bremer. What’s intriguing about that clip: Lionel’s reply to what 'his people' think about guns. 'Depends who’s holding it.' Someone was thinking outside the box there. Here’s Archie’s gun control editorial . . ." ... |

"The modern sporting rifle has been the whipping boy of the anti-gun media and politicians for decades. The majority of the feigned outrage has been based on how the guns look, with an unhealthy dose of complete lies thrown in for good measure."
"The endplay, of course, is the confiscation of all guns. An unarmed populace is far easier to control than a well armed one. Until an oppressive regime can be completely realized, anti-freedom groups hammer at the edges, trying to convince the ignorant and the uninformed to accept small encroachments on liberty. If one class of firearms can be deemed unacceptable, it becomes a stepping-stone to the next infringement." ... |

"I take issue with the condemnation of the National Rifle Association and people that believe in the Second Amendment. Columnist Jack Topchik’s first paragraph issues the proposal that, 'You can take my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.' I’m sure that NRA members and non-members that are American Citizens and legally own guns would agree to that proposal. I do."
"The columnist fails to mention in the second paragraph that it was a military base and only minimal firearms were permitted. This made a military base, for all intents and purposes a target-rich environment. Sorry, I meant almost a gun-free zone. These zones work so well." ... |

"For longer than anyone reading this has been alive, the state of Vermont has allowed its citizens and its visitors to carry loaded, concealed handguns in public with no permit required. The Michael Bloombergs of the world fear that such a practice will make the proverbial blood run in the streets…but history has shown us the reverse. Every year, Vermont is one of the LOWEST violent crime states in the nation. In recent years Alaska and then Arizona adopted the same thing. So did Wyoming, though that state limited permitless carry to Wyoming residents. Whaddaya know: rivers of blood haven’t swept through any of their streets, either. ..."

"On the anniversary of last year’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, gun rights groups are planning events to drive home a straightforward message:"
"'No one at Newtown should have been a victim and no one in the future should be victimized by laws that do not allow people to defend themselves.'"
"That simple statement is from Guns Save Lives Day website, sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation, DefendGunRights.com and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to galvanize gun rights supporters to fight efforts by a gun-grabbing government – abetted by the media – to use the Dec. 14 anniversary to push their agenda." ... |

The above groups have…""… decided to sponsor 'Guns Save Lives Day' on Dec. 14 — the anniversary of last year’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. … Alan Gottlieb, the president of [the Second Amendment Foundation], said the goal is to show 'there’s a good side of guns.'"

"The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence is, as a group, a fervent believer in blind trust in, and absolute obedience to, the government. CSGV actually takes this extreme position to the 'extremely extreme' of claiming that there can be no right to armed resistance against even a government that begins rounding up citizens, based on ethnicity, religion, etc., and herding them onto cattle cars to be dumped into concentration camps--as long as 'due process' is followed. CSGV claims a government 'right' to political violence against the citizenry, and even the use of nuclear weapons against the people." ... |

"How does the media deal with thousands of war veterans and their supporters storming the World War II memorial in defiance of Barack Obama’s orders, tearing down his barricades, and leaving them in a neat pile at the White House gate? You probably already know the answer, but if you need a hint, try hitting your favorite mainstream media 'news' site and looking for headline coverage. ABC News, for example, thinks movie star Orlando Bloom listing his house for $4.5 million is a front-page featured-item event, but not the Million Veterans March. ..." ... |

... "A prudent employer will have a written policy ... which applies to visitors and employees, stating its policy with regard to weapons on its property, including its parking lot, and other areas that it controls. For those employers who wish to prohibit concealed weapons on its property, it should clearly specify where concealed carry is prohibited, and post conspicuously in those areas where the prohibition applies, including parking areas. Other employers may be more gun friendly, allowing concealed carry in its physical buildings, and/or in the parking lots. Regardless of the employer’s gun stance, a clear, well drafted policy and conspicuous posting should go far in protecting an employer’s rights, and fulfilling its legal obligations." |
