... "'The public overwhelmingly supports a significant expansion in the FBI’s ability to investigate militia groups,' the polls-over-principles Morris wrote at the time to then-Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, as well as then-Deputy Chiefs of Staff Erskine Bowles and Harold Ickes. 'If you and the Justice Department believe such an expansion would be in the public interest, I would recommend that we go ahead with it with a high profile announcement.'" ... |

"Everyone agrees that silencers are awesome, and make the shooting experience way more enjoyable. Even so, silencer ownership is still relatively uncommon in the United States. The number one reason I keep hearing from people as to why they don’t buy one is that the barrier to entry is still way too high for the end result. Silencers are expensive, the wait while the paperwork is processed is a pain in the butt, and at the end you have a can with a limited capability. It seemed like you needed three silencers to cover all the bases, namely a rimfire can, a pistol can, and a rifle can. But what if all of those excuses suddenly disappeared?" ... |

That’s the Sandy Hook Elementary School principal [name redacted] shot and killed on Dec. 14, 2012. MDA’s asking its Facebook followers to like, share and join their civilian disarmament jihad while honoring Ms. Hochsprung’s homily. Because all you need is love. Not those icky guns. "Robbers who use clubs are very dangerous. Broken limbs and cracked skulls are nothing to play around with. And those who wield them often believe that they have to strike their victim to demonstrate their seriousness. In this case, the would-be robber made a mistake in the victim selection process. When choosing a hold-up victim Sunday evening, Bobby Dean Hall chose a CCW holder who drew his gun when threatened. Hall then beat feet, but the armed citizen was able to give a good description to the police, who quickly made an arrest . . ." ... |

"Gun control, that perennial hot topic in American politics, has a long and storied past. In the United States, its nefarious roots reach back to the Antebellum South, when Democrat politicians in the southern states passed 'Black Codes' to deprive newly emancipated slaves of their Second Amendment rights. It played out in full in 1930s Germany, when the Nazis used a national gun registry to identify and disarm its political opposition and the Jewish citizenry." ... |

"Attorney General Luther Strange showed off major NRA support on Monday, while his opponent, Joe Hubbard, said Strange is distorting his own and Hubbard's records on gun rights."
"James W. Porter II, the NRA president, endorsed Strange on Monday ..."
"Strange, a Republican, boasted of the group's endorsement. Porter said Strange was very supportive of Second Amendment rights by filing court briefs arguing against gun regulations in other states."
"But state Rep. Joe Hubbard, D-Montgomery, Strange's opponent in the Nov. 4 election, said Strange hardly has a perfect record on guns. Hubbard notes that Strange did not support allowing open-carried guns inside polling places." ... |

"I am a sophomore student at Delta Community College taking a political science class to learn about the fascinating and complicated system we call the 'government.' However, I have been interested in politics long before I was considering colleges. One issue that disturbs me greatly is the controversy of gun control, or gun rights, depending on which side you stand. As is commonly known, the federal government has been and is trying to restrict the types of firearms citizens can legally own, as well as the magazine capacity. ..."

"'Brad Schimel will oppose any attempt to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens,' said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF. 'In contrast, his opponent has said she supports additional restrictions on right to carry permit holders. This is a critical election for the future of our Second Amendment rights and Wisconsin needs an Attorney General like Brad Schimel protecting our freedoms.'" ... |

"So there’s a new Elway poll out, as you may have heard. It tracks support of Washington’s two competing gun background check initiatives, I-591 and I-594. While there was a time when polls showed both efforts passing, the latest numbers - based on a poll taken earlier this month - shows I-594 being supported by 60 percent of voters, while I-591 is down to 39 percent support."
"I-594 - which has raked in nearly $8 million in support from the likes of Bill and Melinda Gates... and Michael Bloomberg - would expand gun background checks in Washington and close the so-called gun-show loophole. I-591, meanwhile, is being championed by well-known gun rights advocate Alan Gottlieb and his Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation. ..." ... |

Do you want a representative in D.C. voting the same way?'"

"Across the country, a thriving dissatisfaction with the U.S. government is prompting a growing spate of bills in state legislatures aimed at defying federal control over firearms - more than 200 during the last decade, a News21 investigation found."
"Particularly in Western and Southern states, where individual liberty intersects with increasing skepticism among gun owners, firearms are a political vehicle in efforts to ensure states’ rights and void U.S. gun laws within their borders. State legislators are attempting to declare that only they have the right to interpret the Second Amendment, a movement that recalls the anti-federal spirit of the Civil War and civil-rights eras." ... |
