Wisconsin ruling affirms importance of SAF’s McDonald case

"Like it or not – and it is clear from their reaction that the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence does not – a ruling by a Wisconsin circuit court judge that found the state's prohibition on concealed carry to be unconstitutional is an affirmation that the Second Amendment Foundation's victory in McDonald v. City of Chicago was not only proper, it was the right thing to do." ...

"The result of this ruling, which will be appealed, could be what has been dubbed “Constitutional Carry” for the state of Wisconsin. That is, citizens there would be able to carry firearms openly or concealed without a permit, if Judge Counsell’s ruling is upheld." ...

"'Are you going to take this?' That's what National Rifle Association (NRA) Supreme Being Wayne LaPierre wants to know, via email. Apparently, Mssr. LaPierre just got the memo on the Chicago City Council’s post-McDonald package of gun control laws. 'If you and I allow Mayor Daley’s attacks on freedom to go unchallenged, we're going to see this new gun-ban strategy start to spread like a virus — city by city, county by county, and state by state all across America.' From there, we're invited to link to an on-line 'Emergency Gun Rights Survey.' The survey is a tissue of half-truths masquerading as questions. And I say this as a Second Amendment supporter; a blogger dedicated to telling the truth about guns. Shall we begin?" ...

"One of the most unique vintage military revolvers is known for its use in Russia, but yet it was in fact a Belgian designed firearm."

"This was the Model 1895 Nagant revolver, which was in actuality developed in 1894 by Emile and Leon Nagant, two Belgian gun designers, who had previous experience with the Russian arms industry."

"Their development of the revolver coincided with the Imperial Russian Army’s need for a new sidearm, which the firm of Fabrique d’armes Emile et Leon Nagant designed and brought to production. The Nagant brothers were already well known at the Russian Court as they had previously helped design the now infamous Mosin-Nagant Model 1892 rifle." ...

Unnecessary assault weapons hurt America, Mexico

"President Bill Clinton signed the Federal Assault Weapons Ban into law in 1994, prohibiting the sale of military-style guns, including AK-47s and AR-15s. When the ban expired in 2004, a proposed 10-year extension was voted down."

"[ATF] statistics show that 7,770 guns sold in the U.S. in 2008 were traced to Mexico, according to a March 17, 2009, article on foxnews.com entitled 'Gun Advocates Ready for Battle on Federal Assault Weapons Ban.' Almost 95 percent of Mexican drug cartels got their firearms from the U.S. that same year. Can you imagine how many lives we could have saved if, in 2004, the extension had been approved?" ...

"Wisconsin, home to John Kerry's beloved 'Lambert' Field, is also one of two states in America that bans the carrying of concealed weapons (the other is Illinois)."

"This week Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge Jon M. Counsell issued an opinion overturning the state's ban on concealed carry that challenges Senator Kerry's infamous gaffe for uninformed audacity."

"Drawing supposed authority from the U.S. Supreme Court's Heller and McDonald decisions--which found only a Second Amendment right to keep a handgun in the home for self-protection--Counsell ruled that the state's ban on carrying concealed handguns in public was overly broad and therefore unconstitutional. "The article goes on to point out that as of this moment, the ruling will have little effect outside Judge Counsell's own court. The defense attorney who made the successful motion to dismiss the case, however, expects the ruling to be appealed, and that the case will end up, in his words, in 'either the Wisconsin Supreme Court and or the United States Supreme Court,' before this is over."

FIRE and the ACLU-TX worked with Fort Worth attorney Karin Cagle to bring a constitutional challenge to TCC's speech code on behalf of student Clayton Smith and John Schwertz, members of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus who had repeatedly been forbidden by TCC to hold an 'empty holster' protest on campus. ..." ...

People will make the connection on their own. In other words, there are issues in politics which are predictors of other issues."

"For me, that issue was always guns. I'm a life-long New Yorker, so I have no hope of ever owning a gun. In fact, I’ve never even shot one, yet I consider gun rights to be in my top 5 issues.
