"Mike Vanderboegh addressed Eric Holder again today."
"The article was a little more troubling than usual for me. ..." ...
"What's troubling is that Mike's tone sounds like a man deliberately putting his affairs in order."
"Anyone who has followed the man's writing for a while knows he scrupulously insists on 'no Fort Sumters', which suggests that he probably believes that the control freaks are going to do something stupid to set off the powderkeg themselves--whether intentionally or simply through negligence. (I know for a sight there's a lot of people out there that will not believe any official story that implicates him as an instigator. His history would make that fantastically implausible.)" ... |

"So what’s the good news? President Obama still doesn't have the 60 votes he needs to overcome a filibuster of his nationalized health care bill."

"We would like to think the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy near a Cambria Heights car wash would sound a wake-up call in the war against illegal guns, but it is sounded every time a young life is lost and nothing happens. It is as easy to buy an illegal gun today in southeast Queens as it was before Kevin Miller was shot. Mothers raising teen boys in this part of town who do not worry every day that their child will not come home are fooling themselves."
"The NYPD projects there will be about 457 murders this year, the lowest total since the department started keeping records in 1962. But that will be of little consolation for Kevin’s family." ... -------

"In Joe Babler's October 2 column, 'We can regulate our automatic rifles and shoot them, too,' the author stated that private sales of firearms at gun shows (the so-called 'gun show loophole') 'allows an unregulated stream of guns to flow into the hands of violent felons.'"
"It does not. This is a favorite canard of folks who want stricter regulations on Second Amendment rights, which is parroted even by well-meaning people like Mr. Babler. The fact is that the FBI Uniform Crime Reports statistics show that less than one percent of guns used in crimes in America are obtained at gun shows ... This hardly demonstrates the urgency implied in Mr. Babler's statement." ... |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
To prohibit a citizen from wearing or carrying a war arm . . . is an unwarranted restriction upon the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of constitutional privilege.
