What happens when worldviews collide? There may be no better example than the controversy that passes for legislation in the nation’s capital today. The two-party system of government is adversarial by nature, providing a vehicle for voters with differing opinions and beliefs to take sides with the political party that best represents their interests. But in recent years the philosophical divide has grown deeper and more entrenched, and despite frequent calls for bipartisanship from beleaguered voters, that’s the last thing most voters actually want. |

In the wake of a bad news survey of a small sampling of registered Washington voters, Crosscut reported that 59 percent plan to vote for gun control Initiative 1639, bringing an immediate surge of activism among opponents of the measure.
Social media, especially Facebook pages involved in the battle to defeat the 30-page initiative, shows an intensified vigor among rights activists. They are ringing doorbells, putting up yard signs and even larger roadside posters, distributing literature and making phone-banking to reach voters. |

It should come as no surprise to learn that politicians lie, but Phil Bredesen’s staff members have owned up to the fact that their candidate has gotten caught trying to hoodwink Tennessee voters in a big way, all in the name of political expediency. James O'Keefe's Project Veritas Action last week released a video showing the slap in the face to registered voters. An undercover “journalist” met with some of Bredesen’s staff members and talked about the candidate’s view on Brett Kavanaugh. Bredesen’s campaign had mentioned during a stump event that if the Democrat Senate candidate were a senator, he would have voted to confirm Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice.

Frederick Hopkins only fired three of the guns on Oct. 3 — a pistol and two military assault rifles, said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, who first put the total number of guns in the home at 129, then said it was still an approximation.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
