Beto O’Rourke got some press coverage when he called for forced confiscation of mid-range semi-automatic rifles. Desperate for attention, Kamala Harris and Cory Booker flashed some confiscation of their own. None of the Democrat candidates criticized firearms confiscation.
Are these extreme proposals appealing to the Democrat base, or is there a larger motivation? |

Police say a retired law enforcement officer acted in self-defense when he shot a North Bellmore man who was beating him over the head with a metal flashlight.
The road rage incident took place just after 11 p.m. Tuesday on Bellmore Road near Magnolia Road.
Police say 47-year-old Michael Bua cut off a 62-year-old retired police officer, prompting the drivers to get out of their cars and start arguing. Police say Bua then started hitting the retired officer in the head with the flashlight. That’s when the unnamed retired officer pulled out his licensed gun. |

To my knowledge, Amy Laufer has never said a word against her party’s stance on liberty-control (aka “gun control,” or more appropriately, the anti-self-defense movement). Her silence means consent. I cannot vote for someone who would deny a woman the right to defend herself.
I speak from experience. I was attacked in a “gun-free zone” while working in an office. Were it not for another man who saved my life, I probably wouldn’t be alive today. |

Convicted felons can now possess guns in the Volunteer State.
The catch? The guns have to be so old they don't technically count as firearms under state law. That also means they'd probably be pretty useless in terms of self-defense.
Earlier this year, the state legislature unanimously passed legislation that amended Tennessee's definition as to what constitutes a firearm in order to make the state's definition the same as the federal government's. Notably, the federal government doesn't consider "antique weapons"—by which the government means guns manufactured prior to 1899—to be firearms. That means, by extension, Tennessee now doesn't either. |

ABC News did something indicative of a propaganda outlet this week. They either willfully played edited footage of a Kentucky firearms arms and pretended it was Turkish attacks on Kurds in Syria, or they are generally so incompetent, they should be removed from the list of “trusted” news sources many Americans believe them to be. Either way, they should at least get their press passes suspended until after the 2020 election. The faux pas was THAT bad. |

In evaluating gun control regulations, it’s legitimate to take into account the social harms and risks arising from individuals keeping, bearing and using firearms. Constitutional analysis of the 2nd Amendment, as with other fundamental rights, requires some kind of balancing of interests, which includes considering the state’s need to promote public safety.
Ed: Balancing of interests has been repudiated by SCOTUS. |

The Vermont Attorney General's Office has filed a brief asking the state's highest court to determine that a high-capacity magazine ban enacted last year comports with the Vermont Constitution.
Additionally, a group of 17 states and the District of Columbia, as well as nonprofit organizations Everytown for Gun Safety and the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the latter joined by Vermont Medical Society and GunSense Vermont, filed amicus briefs that side with the attorney general's office. |

One of the main concerns of any practitioner, especially when relating to firearms, is the method of safety applied.
This carries over into any time a firearm is used, especially in the context of hunting, where safety reigns supreme, and at the top of everyone’s thinking. As hunting is an extremely common pastime in the Northwest, so should be the importance of safety precautions taken while enjoying one’s self in the outdoors. |

That last bit is hypocrisy, not a hoax, holding Democrats and Republicans to far different standards. Instead the hoax is that the video was not of the Turkish military, as reported by ABC, but instead a, “military gun shoot” at a Kentucky gun range. Doubling down, “ABC foreign correspondent Ian Pannell repeats Llamas’ claim of the footage’s authenticity.”
This isn’t a simple mistake. The video was from a 2017 YouTube posting called, “Knob Creek machine gun shoot 2016.” This was deliberate, a hoax, an attempt to further a particular narrative. Once caught, ABC will “regret the error,” yet in reality their only regret is getting caught. |

In December, the court will hear the case of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. City of New York, which has the potential to rival or surpass Heller for its impact on gun rights and gun regulation.
At issue is a New York City ordinance adopted in 2001 that bars residents from taking their guns outside city limits. The ordinance was challenged in a federal lawsuit filed by the National Rifle Association’s New York affiliate and three city residents, who argued that the regulation was unconstitutional in light of Heller. |
