The trend toward compact firearms is growing, and it seems like every year more models come out with folding mechanisms that make them easier to store.
With some iconic folding designs coming through the Certified Used inventory at the Guns.com warehouse, I couldn’t pass up a chance to round up some noteworthy models. |

Two men were fatally shot late Thursday night at a gas station in western Sioux Falls in what police have described as a case of mistaken identity. According to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens, the two people fatally shot, a 23-year-old man and a 44-year-old man, were killed by gunfire after attacking a 26-year-old man, whom they believed was involved in an earlier assault. |

A Popeyes employee is accused of stabbing a customer in what authorities are calling an act of self-defense, Pennsylvania reports say. The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at a Popeyes on the north side of Philadelphia, according to WCAU. Police said a 28-year-old customer was arguing with Popeyes workers about his food order when he began attacking one of them, WPVI reported. As the 34-year-old worker was being assaulted, the employee pulled a knife and stabbed the customer in the side and head, police told WTXF.

In a precedent-setting decision, a Florida appeals court ruled that the state’s “stand your ground” self-defense law can extend to situations where a person uses deadly force against an animal. The case involved Cassanova Gabriel, who fatally shot a pit bull that he claimed was threatening him and his Chihuahua.
The court found that a Palm Beach County judge erred in denying Gabriel a “stand your ground” immunity hearing. According to the News Service of Florida, Judge Burton Conner, writing for the majority, stated that the law allows for the use of deadly force against an animal if a person reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to themselves or another. |

A Monroe County homeowner successfully defended their home with a crossbow during an early morning home invasion on October 8, 2024. The incident occurred around 12:28 a.m. on Huron Street in Frenchtown Township, Michigan, when two suspects allegedly broke into the home.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, two intruders, both from Newport, forced their way into the residence, which was occupied by two people at the time. One of the homeowners, acting in self-defense, fired a crossbow at the intruders, striking a 32-year-old suspect. Both suspects fled the scene after the shot, but law enforcement apprehended them shortly after.

It wasn't always that way, but thanks to the diligent work of activists and legislators strengthened the Second Amendment in Idaho. However, have you ever wondered what city in Idaho is the most Second Amendment friendly? If a poll were taken based on freedoms or rights, Star, Idaho would win that title without any close competition.
Star became the state's first Second Amendment Sanctuary City. Last July, the city council passed that resolution, reports the Idaho Press. Other cities have followed Star's example, including its neighbor Eagle. However, Star has truly one special designation that is rarely matched in the country.

One of the cases came from the National Association for Gun Rights, a controversial gun advocacy group that describes itself as more conservative than the National Rifle Association. Connecticut Citizens Defense League and the Second Amendment Foundation, another gun rights groups, filed the other lawsuit.
Since the law was passed, AR-15s have been effectively illegal in the State of Connecticut — much to the dismay of the plaintiffs in these two cases, who hold that the restriction violates the Second Amendment. |

The commission made a few key decisions Wednesday, including changing their proposed rule to include “constitutional” concealed carry — the carrying of firearms permitted by the Second Amendment and no other licensure — to the list of lawful activities. The previous proposal only allowed patrons with concealed carry permits to bring their guns into the Capitol.
“The Second Amendment is exceptionally clear- the right to bear arms ‘shall not be infringed,’ and this includes our People’s House,” Superintendent Megan Degenfelder said in a press release Wednesday. “I am proud of the amendment Auditor (Kristi) Racines and I brought to the SBC.” |

The state, of course, appealed the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court. And on Tuesday, the Supreme Court refused to hear the case, but surprisingly sent the case back to the 3rd Circuit for that court to reconsider its earlier ruling. It’s even more troubling that in the two-sentence order the Supreme Court asked the lower court to reconsider the case in light of the recent decision in the Rahimi case, in which the high court ruled that domestic abusers forfeit their Second Amendment right. |

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Wednesday that she has ended an emergency public health order that suspended the right to carry guns at public parks and playgrounds in New Mexico's largest metro area.
The original public health order in September 2023 ignited a furor of public protests, prompted Republican calls for the governor's impeachment and widened divisions among top Democratic officials. It also sought to strengthen oversight of firearms sales and monitor illicit drug use at public schools through the testing of wastewater - before expiring on Saturday without renewal. |

El Salvador's Congress on Wednesday approved the legalization of unregistered firearms held by citizens of the Central American nation, whose president has cracked down hard on criminal gangs.
People with unregistered guns will have 90 days to inform the defense ministry how they acquired them.
The law was passed by 57 votes out of 60 in the single-chamber Congress, which is controlled by President Nayib Bukele's party Nuevas Ideas.
Ruling party legislator Alexia Rivas said that the move was "not about arming citizens," but rather that "the state should have absolute control" over guns.
The decree stipulates that any person may inform the authorities, without consequences, about hidden firearms. |

Sometime after Oct. 20, Southern District of Illinois federal Judge Stephen McGlynn could rule on the consolidated case challenging the ban. Some expect he will issue a permanent injunction. This could be his second strike against the law.
On preliminary grounds last year, McGlynn issued an injunction that lasted six days before the appeals court put a hold on his order. The appeals court eventually overturned the preliminary injunction and remanded the case to McGlynn’s court to get a final judgment. A bench trial on the case wrapped up Sept. 20. McGlynn gave both sides 30 days to filed final briefs on the issues. |

But the Supreme Court handed down a new opinion this year that upheld a law intended to protect victims of domestic violence. The high court said Tuesday the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals should reconsider the Pennsylvania case in light of that decision.
Pennsylvania officials, for their part, had argued that there is a long tradition of limiting guns to people 21 and older dating back to the 1850s. |

Last week, the Super PAC offered a $47 payment to any swing state voter who signed a petition in favor of free speech and the right to bear arms, per The Telegraph.
Despite saying in March he would not donate to either presidential candidate, the Tesla CEO's recent contribution catapults him to mega-donor status for the Republican Party.
