"There are plenty of good, solid reasons to carry a gun. Just ask any of the millions of Americans who’ve applied for and received a concealed carry license during the last four years. Not that an American should have to get a government license to exercise their Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Anyway, I won’t rehash the reasons for armed self-defense here. At the risk of inflaming my detractors in the gunblogosphere to the point of self-immolation, I’d like to present three reasons not to carry a gun . . ." ... |

"In last night's presidential debate, held at Hofstra University, President Obama was asked what he had done, and what he plans to do in the future, 'to limit the availability of 'assault weapons.' This time, Obama admitted that his agenda for the future includes an outright ban on so-called 'assault weapons' (which, by the way, he falsely referred to as 'automatic weapons,' just as retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens did, thus perpetuating the confusion that the Violence Policy Center has counted on for so long). "So Obama gives his endorsement - sorta, kinda, maybe - to the call for a new 'assault weapons ban'. As part of a 'comprehensive strategy', he'd like to see 'if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced.' While it isn't a ringing endorsement, the media is playing it that way as are the gun prohibitionists like the Brady Campaign. So too, in all honesty, is the NRA."
"Given that, I expect the sales of ARs and AKs to accelerate along with standard capacity magazines."
