If you walked down the firing line and asked most of us, we’d say we are practicing for self-defense. I don’t believe it. I think we stand in a line and shoot at paper precisely so we won’t feel embarrassed by our performance. Our self-image is so sensitive that we can’t suffer disappointment. In addition, we don’t know what we don’t know, so we tend to overestimate our skills and underestimate what we could learn.
Children fail all the time, but it seems we’ve lost that skill as adults. I went shooting with a friend, and the experience drove home that particular lesson. |

It depends on what they are. Even in [the Supreme Court’s] decision on the McDonald case [invalidating Chicago’s handgun ban], there’s room for regulation.
I think the notion that you need an AR-15 for self-defense is extreme. That said, I don’t think there’s anything from the opinions of the Supreme Court that says you can’t license a retail gun dealer. There are things we can do that are consistent with how even a conservative Supreme Court interprets the Second Amendment. |

Firearm permits in West Virginia for residents over the age of 21 will be recognized in Pennsylvania and Florida, the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.
The two states will not recognize provisional licenses issued to residents between the ages of 18 and 20.
28 states have continued recognition with the state, allowing West Virginians to carry concealed within their borders.
“This ensures convenience in travel and peace of mind for West Virginia license holders choosing to exercise their Second Amendment rights,” Patrick Morrisey said in a release to the media. “Preserving this recognition is a victory for gun owners. We hope it remains intact for many years to come.” |

Investigators believe he and the Chicago man, identified by the Lake County Coroner's Office as 34-year-old Joseph McHaney, traveled to a home in the 300 block of Teal Road purporting to be interested in purchasing a firearm from a homeowner. Instead, Covelli said, they tried to rob the gun-owning resident with a knife and a hammer.
Zachery was armed with a knife as McHaney struck the homeowner multiple times with a hammer, according to the task force investigation. The resident responded by shooting in self-defense. McHaney was fatally shot by the homeowner and pronounced dead at the scene, Covelli said. |

So you really think you could be proud to have Kathleen Williams representing you and your state in the U.S. Congress; but one of your biggest issues is the Second Amendment, and Williams has poor grades with the gun lobby. Kathleen is an avid hunter, as well as an avid fisher, hiker and skier. The reason she will never get a high grade from gun manufacturers and lobbyists is her refusal to back down on her resistance to military style assault weapons, like the AR-15, used in many school massacres. |

Here’s What the Ratings Mean: Ratings and endorsements are based solely on a candidate’s support of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and do not take into consideration a candidate’s position on other unrelated issues.

Please vote no on Initiative 1639. If you are a law-abiding gun owner, collector, sportsman, hunter or in need of self-defense, I-1639 will make it nearly impossible to own a firearm. The initiative is 30 pages of massive restrictions, vague phrases that are open to broad interpretation, and higher and higher fees with no oversight. |

A requirement that gun owners lock up their guns to newly imposed standards or face criminal charges.
A requirement that individuals applying to acquire a semi-automatic rifle waive the confidentiality of their medical records. The act of applying to purchase “shall constitute a waiver of confidentiality.”
Required statewide registration for every law-abiding citizen owning a handgun or semi-automatic rifle, necessitating a massive state-level bureaucracy.
I-1639 would turn you into a felon if a criminal steals your gun and uses it to commit a crime.
It robs adults ages 18 to 20 of their constitutional right to self-defense. It forbids law-abiding young adults to purchase or receive semi-auto rifles. |

The National Rifle Association today downgraded Sen. Jon Tester’s rating to “D” after he voted against confirming Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. Kavanaugh’s confirmation restores a 5-4 majority on the Court in favor of our right to self-defense.
“D.C. Jon Tester once again joined forces with Chuck Schumer and anti-gun liberals to vote against our fundamental right to self-defense,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman, NRA-PVF. “Actions speak louder than words. Downgrading Jon Tester to a ‘D' sends a clear message to Montanans that Jon Tester can’t be trusted to protect our constitutional rights.” |

The list of his anti-Second Amendment actions goes on and on. But Brown has managed to stay in office for a while in Ohio, a state where voter support for the Second Amendment has been solid.
One of the big reasons for this is that he, unlike Schumer, has generally kept his anti-Second Amendment actions under the radar of many people. How has he done that? Simple: While his vote is reliably with Schumer and Feinstein, he has rarely been public with his comments or beliefs on the issue. He just casts votes. The other action he has often taken has been to sign on to various letters. Well, that was the case until after the Pulse nightclub shooting (really a terrorist attack, as the shooter pledged allegiance to ISIS). |

My fellow NRA members, we stand at the edge of the precipice of one of the most important elections of our lives. That is the reality we face, and we face it just days from now.
All the freedoms we hold dear are at stake in this election. The enemies of our freedom are highly organized and abundantly funded, thanks to a group of super-rich political elites hell-bent on “buying” this election to serve their own agenda.
This self-serving cabal of billionaires and their pet politicians have conspired to permanently transform America into a socialist state. They tried their best to win the White House in 2016, and they’ve done everything possible to undo that election ever since. |

Democrats have targeted select districts throughout the country. Their goal is to flip both the House and the Senate come November. One of the districts they're heavily invested in is California's 25th Congressional District, which is currently represented by Republican Steve Knight.
Knight's Democratic challenger, Katie Hill, is touting her "distinction" as a Gun Sense Candidate, a so-called honor given by gun control group Moms Demand Action.
What's disturbing is her stance on the Second Amendment. Although she says she's a "lifelong gun owners," she wants "sensible" gun laws. And you know what that means: banning particular accessories and types of guns. |

Illinois has background checks for all gun sales and we can see how well that has worked out for Chicago. Background checks are a placebo, with the vast majority of denials being false hits (In 2010, around 72,000 people were stopped from buying a gun in the U.S. because of background checks, but only 44 were prosecuted and 13 found guilty! The rest were mostly false hits that were later corrected). |
