Let me connect two distant events. A sandwich shop in Philadelphia hired armed guards, and Joe Biden announced the White House “Office of Gun Violence Prevention.”
Jimmy’s Cheesesteaks in Philadelphia did more than hire a guard. They hired uniformed and armored guards openly carrying rifles across their chests. They guard the shop several days a week. The gas station on the corner has armed guards too because they wanted to be open after dark. This is the same city that had nightly looting this week.
Now consider why Biden announced an office of “gun violence.” First, I’m going to give you a few hints- |

When it comes to picking your next semi-automatic everyday carry (EDC) handgun, two calibers that you should consider are the .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) and the 9mm Luger (9x19mm NATO, 9mm Parabellum). Both cartridges fire the same 9mm (0.355”) diameter bullet, but the .380 ACP has a shorter overall case length and is, therefore, the more anemic round.

The .223 Rem and 350 Legend were created for two different purposes, yet when you compare the 350 Legend vs 223 side-by-side, they have a few strikingly similar characteristics that allow these calibers to overlap in their intended uses partially.
Below we compare the calibers in several categories that the average shooter will find essential.

In May, we wrote about the dramatic events leading up to the historic 2016 presidential election, in which Donald Trump made judicial nominations a centerpiece of his campaign. That article explained how President Trump fortified the U.S. Supreme Court with Originalist appointments and how that in turn led to last year’s pivotal decision in the NRA-supported case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Bruen, by all accounts, has transformed the landscape of Second Amendment litigation, forcing anti-gun activists and politically minded judges to reckon with a world in which the Second Amendment is treated with the same dignity as other fundamental constitutional rights.

As noted in our coverage of the Governor’s press conference earlier this week, CRPA didn’t even let the Governor sign SB 2 before we took action to repeal it. Friday, CRPA filed its motion for a preliminary injunction to stop the law from ever taking effect. What Comes Next? The state will have until November 3rd to file its motion to oppose the injunction. CRPA will then have until November 20th to reply to the opposition motion. A hearing is currently scheduled before Judge Cormac Carney on December 4th.

Second Amendment advocates convened on the waterlogged grounds outside the state Capitol building Saturday to mark the final day during which openly carrying a gun in public was legal in Connecticut prior to the Sunday implementation of new firearm restrictions. The event, organized by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, was meant as a rally and call to action for gun rights advocates disheartened by sweeping new gun safety policies enacted this year by the state legislature.

The Supreme Court is returning to a new term to take up some familiar topics — guns and abortion — and concerns about ethics swirling around the justices. The year also will have a heavy focus on social media and how free speech protections apply online. A big unknown is whether the court will be asked to weigh in on any aspect of the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump and others or efforts in some states to keep the Republican off the 2024 presidential ballot because of his role in trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election that he lost to Democrat Joe Biden.

Like a lot of you, I grew up reading articles and books by that grand old man of sixgunning, Elmer Keith, and one of the things that I enjoyed most was seeing photos of his engraved handguns with their carved ivory stocks. Probably my favorites were his Colt single action and his engraved 4-inch Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum.

Hunter’s Log, Lowrance Ranch, Day 1—“There’s a good group.” The comment referenced the first three shots I had fired out of this particular Springfield Model 2020 Waypoint, as we stood in the warm sunlight of an autumnal Texas day. Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, this rifle was proving to be a tack driver with 143-grain ELD-X Hornady Precision Hunter. As it happens, I have some history with this model rifle. It was the gun I carried into the Idaho backcountry two years prior, on a muley hunt destined for near-lethal disaster.

Heritage Manufacturing has been making a strong resurgence this year with new firearms and offerings popping up constantly. While many gun companies are shying away from older designs, Heritage Manufacturing is leaning in and crafting some marvelous ‘arms that remind us of John Wayne, old cowboy movies, and potentially the first time we ever shot a “firearm” (who remembers the old Daisy Red Ryder). Heritage Manufacturing’s newest offerings come to use via their new Settler series. This includes the Settler, Settler Compact, and Settler Mare’s Leg.

What is a ‘guardian?’ A simple definition of “guardian” is someone whose presence prevents crime. Criminologists, who created that evocative title, have ignored armed civilians as possible guardians. But there is no reason that civilian firearm owners could not be recognized as guardians. You know who they are. They are the peaceful folks who own firearms. They are the dependable folks who carry concealed or open in public. And they are the good folks who have used their firearms in defense of themselves and others.

New York’s rollout of background checks to buy firearm ammunition is creating issues for sellers and buyers alike. The state’s Concealed Carry Improvement Act took effect in early September and includes a background check prior to the purchase of ammunition as well as a $9 fee for a background check to buy a firearm and a $2.50 fee for a background check for ammunition. The mandate effectively circumvent the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tabaco and Firearms and the national background check the ATF is supposed to undertake, and instead places the background checks to be conducted in the hands of the New York State Police instead.

There is a difference of opinion and then there’s this story - putting a politician's face on a bag of ammunition the same day they die, with a message on it that’ll make you do a double-take.
The ammunition business – is still booming, and Fenix Ammunition in Novi is no different.
Justin Nazaroff – and his brother own the business and Friday morning he woke up, pumped-up after a Lions win.
"That's unbelievable, so already a great start to the morning and then we hear Dianne Feinstein passed away," he said.
Out of death – birthed an idea. The bags of ammunition have a picture of the late US senator known for being a champion of gun control legislation and it reads "RIP Dianne Feinstein laugh out loud. Bye b----." |

Hundreds of people turned off Taylor’s Lane and followed the road back to the grounds of the Delran Junior Marksman Club on a recent Saturday to see the pistol, rifle & archery ranges and learn how to properly use firearms.
“My family and I have been coming here since the '80s,” said Range Safety Officer (RSO) and firearms instructor Jim Ralph, a Vietnam vet who served with the U.S. Army 25th Division.
“It’s great that I learned from my dad how to shoot, and I enjoy going fishing and hunting with him,” said Chief RSO Karen Ralph during a club meet-and-greet and open house that included some 30 vendors, including local police departments.
“This is the first time we’re trying this with vendors,” club Vice President Chris Eck noted. |
