"I think we're making progress in educating the Educators. Pressure is building from outside the education community to arm Administrators and it's encountering some resistance, but it could be a sign of progress, nevertheless."

"I disagree with arming more officials. I advocate lifting bans on weapons in the hands of parents and other visitors on campus."

"As I'd mentioned previously, and it's worthy of repeating, the solution is not more officials, but more latitude in recognizing parental authority with less official interference with the rights of parents and citizen visitors. ..."

"Arming the vice-principal is further centralization of power and freezing out the parent once more. ..." ...

"I just sent the short e-mail to the NRA, see below. Hope some of you will also e-mail them. Bill Brown [NRA-PVF and A-rated candidate for Santa Barbara County Sheriff] says he wants a new direction...the question is which direction. Bill Brown told me that anyone in the city should not carry and that he has only given one permit to carry. That person was a federal trapper. I told him there were more wild animals in the city that were far more dangerous. The interview with him went down hill after that. Anyone in Santa Barbara County please forward this to someone you know...that believes in the right for a citizen to protect themselves and their family or friends. ..." ...

All of the facts are not known at this time, but it is being reported that a .380-caliber pistol fell from the pocket of a man with a Concealed Handgun License and discharged at a Fayetteville, NC mall. ..."

"Statistics, historical data, and common sense tell us that those that have passed a background check and been trained to safely carry a firearm for self-defense are the most law-abiding people in this country. That is why we, as a community, must take notice of this incident and do our best to ensure that it remains a rare exception ..." ...

"David Codrea at The War on Guns has posted an article titled 'Life on the Bizarro World'. The story has ruffled my feathers in the extreme. For it shows just how hypocritical and evil that our government has become:"

"Mal Soon Jin, a Korean woman who has lived in the United States for 20 years and run a fruit store with her husband, was minutes away from a moment that looms large for many immigrants in their quest for the American Dream: the naturalization ceremony that would make her a United States citizen..." ...

A candidate for state school superintendent says he believes old books could be used to protect students caught in a school shooting.

Republican Bill Crozier says if he's elected he would put thick, used textbooks under every desk for students to use as self-defense.

Crozier says he acknowledges the idea may seem a little unusual but he's sticking with it. He says in a recent test an old calculus book stopped a bullet fired by a handgun.

Crozier is challenging Democratic state Superintendent Sandy Garrett.

A spokesman for Garrett says they have no comment on the idea.

The National Rifle Association, with its million members, has been the guardian of these rights for many years. There are members of Congress right now who are working to seize these rights and to void the Second Amendment. We have seen these rights abolished in Australia, Great Britain, Canada and Brazil. Let’s not let it happen in the U.S.A."

Pickard watched a patrol-car video of the December eleventh, 2003 incident. He said he saw Rivard shooting through the passenger-door window as the car backed up.

Rivard has testified he shot in self-defense after Simons backed into another patrol car and drove toward him.
