The history around the development of the .500 Nitro Express is not entirely clear. It first appeared in the United Kingdom in the late 19th century, where it evolved from the .500 Express case. The difference between the two is that black powder is loaded in the .500 Express, and cordite is loaded in the .500 Nitro Express.

Growing activity from armed far-right groups and President Trump’s calls for his supporters to watch polling places “very carefully” have raised concerns of possible disruptions or voter intimidation ahead of the Nov. 3 election. States will also have to prepare for the prospect of guns being brought into voting sites — legally. |

I was born in 1931 and grew up on a farm in south Mississippi. My dad was a sharecropper until I was in my teens during those very difficult times. My love for guns and hunting goes back as far as I can remember, but my dad was not a hunter and did not even own a gun. It was always my heart’s desire, once I was old enough, to get into the woods that I loved with a gun of my own. |

This isn’t a new product by any stretch but every time I head to the range for a product review, I’m so happy I own an MTM Predator Shooting Table. Shaped like a traditional shooting bench, the table folds into a lightweight, compact package that’s easy to transport and stow in my garage. Best of all, it offers a quick, stable surface anywhere on the range or even in the field. |

A Washington State appellate court has reversed and remanded for trial a challenge to a “safe storage” gun control ordinance adopted by the City of Seattle more than two years ago, saying the plaintiffs—including the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association—do have standing to bring the action.
The case was initially dismissed by the trial court judge on that technicality. |

The People’s Republic of China isn’t exactly a favorite of the American public. Since the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak of early 2020, Americans are questioning whether or not all of that cheap plastic junk from Wal-Mart doesn’t come with a hidden cost. It’s not just about the virus: There is also the spectre of deindustrialization, which has been a social disaster for the United States, particularly the rust belt. What’s more, Tucker Carlson and others reported during the early days of the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak that the United States was dependent on China for basic medical supplies, such as penicillin.

Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic and then widespread civil unrest, Americans have bought firearms in record numbers. Through September, the FBI had processed a record-setting 28,826,449 total National Instant Criminal Background Check System checks for 2020. With three months of the year still left, 2020 has seen 456,699 more checks than any previous year. |

In an ABC News town hall last week, Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden proffered use of force advice to law enforcement that is being widely panned. "You can ban chokeholds, but beyond that you have to teach people how to de-escalate circumstances, de-escalate," said Biden. "So instead of anybody coming at you and the first thing you do is shoot to kill, you shoot 'em in the leg."

Four mayors have urged voters to oppose a ballot measure that would make Clatsop County a Second Amendment sanctuary. Measure 4-205, designed by gun rights activists, would prohibit county resources from being used to enforce any local, state and federal law that restricts the right to keep and bear firearms, accessories or ammunition.

In Staunton, a special meeting over the second amendment is now planned for next week. Council will hold a public hearing using both virtual and in-person participation. The meeting will be held at City Hall on Thursday, October 29 at 6 p.m. At Council’s last meeting, the majority of council members voted to revisit talks of becoming a “second amendment sanctuary”. Several cities and counties deemed themselves as such to make it clear they will not use public funds to restrict second amendment rights.

“FBI: Militia group planned to kidnap Gov. Just the kind we’re told “rank as the top terrorist threats,” more than violent Islamists, more than Antifa, more than Marxist-founded BLM. |

Naturally we clearly remember the “firsts” in our lives — first gun, first car, first date, etc. I remember fondly my first experience with an antique lever gun because it started my career on a path still followed today: learning the ins and outs of safely shooting old and obsolete guns and their cartridges.

For most of us, hunting season is in full swing. It’s the best time of year if you’re a hunter and many of us look forward to it all year long. You get into the groove of operating on little sleep, waking well before sunrise, filling up the thermos full of coffee and heading out to the blind, stand, or just into the wild for a spot and stalk hunt. People talk of the fall color, but until you experience it at the first crack of daylight, or the last few moments as the sun sets, there are not enough words to describe it. While we often think nothing can derail one of these perfect days, that simply isn’t the case. If you’re hunting with a firearm, there are some simple mistakes that can lead to big trouble.

"I’m a single woman, I’m a homeowner, I’m an entrepreneur," said Kristal Hunt. "(I am a) businesswoman who frequents a location constantly late at night, so with those factors - all those together, it’s like ok, now it’s time to protect myself."
And that’s why Hunt took a Concealed Pistol License class, though it will be months before she ever carries one. The Wayne County Clerk’s office has been slow on the draw in the permits allowing residents to carry a concealed handgun.
Applicants can only complete the process by appointment, because of the pandemic. But getting one is an exercise in patience.
FOX 2: "So this is your appointment here?"
"Yes, Monday, July 12, 2021," Hunt said. |

Sheriffs and local police are still scrambling to decide how to enforce a ban on open carry guns at polls on Election Day. The ban was issued by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on Friday.
“The open carry of a firearm is prohibited in a polling place, in any hallway used by voters to enter or exit, or within 100 feet of any entrance to a building in which a polling place is located,” Benson said.
Now local law enforcement are left to decide how and if they'll enforce it.
“The first thing we’re doing is conferring with our corporation counsel,” Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham tells 7 Action News.
While Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy is clear that his deputies won't be enforcing the ban.
