"What America most needs is a new generation of intellectuals - an intellectual army that can defend the principles of the Declaration of Independence. Then, and only then, will America be armed to defend itself." By C. Bradley Thompson

"Now is not the time to critique government policy and cause division, the conservatives charge. Over the last few weeks the Left has been a greater friend of liberty than the Right; conservatives seem to have forgotten the part of their philosophy that views individuals and their voluntary associations as generally better able to solve problems than the modern state." -Jason Sorens

-Gary Ackerman & Cheryl Loeb, research associates at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS.MIIS.Edu)

"The debate, therefore, over the nature of the right is misplaced. In the final analysis, whether the right to keep and bear arms is collective or individual is of no legal consequence. It is, as duly noted by the majority opinion, a right subject to reasonable regulation." --Judge Robert M. Parker, regarding the Emerson decision

"The whole class of people from whom judges and law professors are drawn was overwhelmingly in favor of gun control and looked forward to the passage of laws that would effectively end private gun ownership, at least of non-hunting weapons. ... But at the same time, in the decade from 1965 to 1975, violent crimes nearly tripled in the United States, with very high crime rates in central cities with the nation's toughest gun control laws." -Michael Barone

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. — Justice William O. Douglas, US Supreme Court (1939-75)
