On Sunday night, police say a man was shot after entering another person's home in Sturgis. A shooting like that brings up questions of just what rights and responsibilities a homeowner has in that type of situation. The Castle Doctrine states that your home is your castle and you have the right to defend it. Stand Your Ground laws in South Dakota say a person can use force or violence against someone else, if there is a reasonable belief of danger.

When I see an NRA hat across the room, I smile because I know that person is a boldly proud American. I know that person is for individual freedom. I know that man or woman is someone we can count on when times are hard. I know that individual appreciates how unique and fragile this American freedom of ours really is. I know all this because no other membership can tell as much about a person as an NRA shirt or hat. There simply has never been another association like the NRA.

Michigan residents could carry a concealed firearm without a permit and in locations where it’s currently prohibited under legislation passed out of the House Military, Veterans and Homeland Security Committee Tuesday.

In 5-1 votes, the committee moved several bills that taken together would expand where and how gun owners could carry their firearms. The main bill in the package, House Bill 4770, would eliminate current restrictions on carrying concealed weapons and storing them in vehicles, and make a CPL license unnecessary - although gun owners still could opt to get the license.

In a first-of-its-kind case for King County, authorities say police seized military-style weapons from a self-proclaimed neo-Nazi. According to court documents, authorities believe Kaleb Cole is a state leader of a small but dangerous extremist group. Still, he has not been charged with a crime or making a specific threat. A controversial law allowed authorities to confiscate his guns anyway. While some decry the Extreme Risk Protection Order, citing concerns of due process, the state law passed through a 2016 ballot initiative with nearly 70 percent of the vote.

The CW's new Nancy Drew adaptation perfectly hits that #fallgoal cozy-spooky aesthetic. While the town of Horseshoe Bay may be riddled with ghosts (or at least one homicidal ghost named Dead Lucy), there is a comfort to knowing that Nancy Drew is on the case. And, per the Nancy Drew showrunner, there is also a comfort to knowing that there will never be a gun fired on the show.

Do you know that each and every time you buy a new firearm or factory produced ammunition you are paying a hidden tax that is as high as 11 percent?

Under provisions of the Pittman-Robertson Act (P-R), handguns are taxed at the confiscatory rate of 10 percent and ammunition, rifles and shotguns are taxed at an even more outrageous 11 percent. Enacted in 1937, P-R was originally levied at a rate of 11 percent on rifles, shotguns and all types of ammunition and in 1970, handguns were added and taxed at 10 percent. Many gun owners are unaware they are even paying this tax because it is collected by manufacturers, based on the wholesale price of a firearm or ammunition.
