"Dear BATFE Acting Director Melson:"
"We at Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership recently received the document that is copied below for your convenience. We would respectfully ask you to either validate these assertions or refute them in detail."
"Our organization has had a long and disconcerting experience with the agency you now head. We would suggest that you might seek to bring a refreshing era of candor and honesty…and, if possible, a substantial dose of legality… to the BATFE. You can certainly start by examining the following carefully compiled expose in detail, and then tell Americans if you are truly planning a national gun registry. ..." ... |

"We have seen, within just the last week or so, a growing media awareness of the Oath Keepers, a group--consisting mostly of police officers and military service members--who have vowed to disobey any illegal, unconstitutional orders they may be given. With this growing awareness, we are also seeing growing consternation among those who, apparently, find the idea of troops and police officers who refuse to take part in crimes against the American people alarming." ... |

"In keeping with the coming trend of treating gun violence as a public health issue, I think it helpful to point out that those of us with guns can positively affect public health. We can help treat Hoplophobia in the general public. Hoplophobia is the fear of firearms or weapons in general. ... Another common manifestation is the belief that anyone carrying a gun in public will certainly shoot someone, and probably shoot the person suffering from hoplophobia."
"One of the basic treatments for phobias is called systematic desensitization or exposure therapy . This was developed and used in 1958 by Dr. Joseph Wolpe. It involves gradual familiarization with the feared item or event which leads to an abatement of the phobia. ..." ... |

"California's restrictive new ammunition sales law, AB 962, is bad enough in its own right. Peaceable, responsible gun owners will now face additional difficulites in procuring ammunition, ammunition vendors will take on considerable additional costs, difficulties, and risks of legal culpability, and California's vast, authoritarian, nanny-state bureaucracy will grow still larger."
"But all that has been discussed elsewhere already. My new concern is that this law will come to be seen as 'a good first step'--and remember, to the forcible citizen disarmament lobby, every new restriction is 'a good first step.'" ... |

"Lock 'N Load (Showtime, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET) is a lighthearted docu-series about gun culture and customer service as practiced in Denver. "An armed intruder who broke broke in to a San Marcos, TX home was shot in self defense by a resident."
"Police say that at about 9:50 PM on Wednesday, a suspect armed with a realistic looking BB gun broke in to a home on the 700 block of Oscar Smith Drive. The residents called 911, but the intruder successfully broke in before police arrived. One of the residents grabbed his self defense handgun and fired multiple shot at the intruder, causing him to flee, according to police. Shortly thereafter, a man reportedly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was found seeking treatment at a nearby hospital, and was listed in stable condition hours after the attempted home invasion." ... |
