I didn’t grow up wealthy, and having spent decades writing about shotguns, I won’t retire that way either. But I will spend what’s left of my duck-hunting career shooting what I consider to be one of the most well-made double guns ever constructed—the Winchester Model 21. Though Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company still makes this gun, and there are used versions of it that will fetch exorbitant prices, I was able to acquire one in my younger days.

First, let’s get something clear — this is a magazine for discerning shooters who are experienced and don’t fall easily for the latest “Gun of the Month” or “Technique of the Week” hype. We strive to present articles packed with real-world information written by a team of world-class writers. Having made this point, I must interject something — The Mossberg 590S Shockwave is purely, absolutely cool, possibly straying into the realm of “Kick Butt!” |

Donald Trump Jr. is selling T-shirts on his web site that mock the fatal shooting on Alec Baldwin's movie set. The T-shirts promoted on his website include the tagline "guns don't kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people." The shirts retail for $27.99 and appeared online after Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun on a movie set that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza, Insider reported. |

Strict gun control laws in Massachusetts have had “no immediate impact on violent crimes,” according to the abstract of a new study from American University, published in the Justice Quarterly. The Boston Herald reported the study “used modeling and FBI data from 2006 to 2016 to examine the impact” of a gun control law adopted in the Bay State in 2015. While the newspaper said the law “had little effect on the violent crime rate in the state, raising questions about enforcement of these laws,” it might make better sense to question the effectiveness of the law altogether, because gun control laws usually only impact law-abiding gun owners, not criminals. |

The 300 AAC Blackout and 308 Winchester are both 30-caliber rifle cartridges that shoot a .308” diameter bullet. However, this is where the similarities end as both cartridges have a different intended purpose.
In this caliber comparison article, we are going to take a detailed look at both the 300 AAC Blackout and the 308 Winchester. Unlike previous articles, I won’t “crown a winner” because the difference between 308 vs 300 Blackout is comparing apples to oranges.

City gun owners should be on the lookout for small aluminum signs that will be posted on some public properties through the city within the next two weeks. Those signs will be used to notify people where they are restricted from carrying their firearms. Petersburg City Council passed a law earlier this month that bans firearms from public buildings, parks and events in the city. Some of the city’s gun owners are furious with this new ordinance, saying that the language is too broad and conflicts with state and national codes, which could lead to complicated legal situations. |

Springfield Armory has delivered on rumors of a return of one of the world's most iconic firearms, John Browning's P-35 series pistol. The newest version of the Hi-Power-style double-stack 9mm handgun, the Springfield Armory SA-35, seems like it stepped right out of the golden age of circa 1960s T- and C-series Brownings, but it only seems that way. While still showing off the vintage "wood and steel" look of mid-century commercial series guns, Springfield's chapter in the firearm's history has subtle upgraded enhancements that give a nod to more contemporary defensive pistols. |

Sales tax would no longer be collected on guns, ammunition and knives in Ohio if a bill planned for introduction in the Ohio House becomes law. State Rep. Al Cutrona, R-Canfield, recently announced he will introduce legislation that would exempt those items from sales tax, saying the move would help make gun, ammunition and knife retailers and manufacturers more competitive with neighboring states.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them. — Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States; With a Preliminary Review of the Constitutional History of the Colonies and States before the Adoption of the Constitution [Boston, 1833]. |
