Holland & Holland, a firearms company from England, developed the .375 H&H Magnum in 1912 – a cartridge that would eventually come to be called the “Queen of the Medium Bores.” The .375 H&H Mag was specifically designed for hunting big game in Africa, and it was successful. The cartridge is sufficient to harvest any large game animal on the continent, including the Big Five species. Although it's been around for over 100 years, it still warrants respect, and is often chosen by both professional hunters and sportsmen. The .375 is the base of Holland & Holland's most popular cartridge, the .300 H&H Magnum.

Actor/Producer Alec Baldwin, who has supported extreme gun control efforts in the past, should have spent more time learning real gun safety instead of subscribing to the false narrative of the gun ban crowd he has previously embraced, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
“The investigation is still in progress, and there is lots of speculation floating around,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. |

Today, Oct. 26, 1881 marks the 140th anniversary of the infamous “Gunfight at the OK Corral,” a misnomer because the shooting didn’t occur at the corral, but in an empty lot nearby next to Fly’s Photography Gallery in Tombstone, Ariz.
It has become the most famous shootout in the history of the Old West, though a one-on-one classic street gunfight between James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok and Davis Tutt in Springfield, Mo., in July 1865 is certainly a contender. Hickok and Tutt quarreled over gambling and, by some accounts, a woman. Tutt missed, Hickok didn’t. |

Supply-line strains caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, along with heightened awareness of the critical role guns play in self-defense, have extended lead times for firearms produced by Big Horn Armory (BHA). To address the situation, the manufacturer is hiring more employees, obtaining a new and larger building, purchasing additional machinery and doubling suppliers.

In his final, answering brief submitted to the US Supreme Court (embedded below, must-read) in the case of NY State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, attorney for the NYSRPA, Paul Clement makes a statement which I believe undermines his position and perpetuates the problematic attitudes that keep us fighting for our rights decade after decade.

Did you catch the video by Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership (DRGO) at the Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) this year? If you didn’t, now’s your opportunity to get up to speed. Somehow the email from the Second Amendment Foundation that went out notifying me that the DRGO video was ready for viewing slipped through the cracks, and I recently found it cleaning out my inbox. I previously reported on the GRPC a couple of weeks ago, and do check out that article for a small rundown.

As I’m sure you’re already aware, the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19 and its variants forced us to cancel the 2021 NRA Annual Meetings in Houston—a huge disappointment to us all. There is one silver lining to this for me, however, which is that I have the opportunity to write to you, the patriotic members of our Association, once more. |

The New Haven Police Department has seized nine so-called ghost guns this year, which is almost three times the number seized by this time a year ago. Although police have these guns in their possession, it’s difficult to find who they belong to because of their nature. Police Sergeant John Finch said ghost guns consist of all different parts that people then put together, which makes them hard to track. |

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not inspired confidence with its response to COVID-19. That’s not NRA’s opinion—it’s borne out by the data. A recent study from the RAND Corporationfound that “Surveys done among a representative group of Americans in May and October of 2020 show about a 10% decline in trust of the CDC over that period.” A Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that trust in the agency fell 16 percent from April 2020 to September 2020. |

Michigan residents with concealed handgun permits should not be required to submit to background checks under federal law when they buy guns, an advocacy group argued Tuesday before a federal appeals panel. Gun Owners of America, which filed a federal lawsuit alongside Donald Roberts II in 2020, says the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives violated the Administrative Procedure Act when it abruptly changed its interpretation of federal law in 2019 to require Michigan residents to submit to background checks when they buy guns.

Sniper Bladeworks was founded by knife designer Lance Abernathy, a former SWAT officer and self-professed gun guy, back in 2009. If the handles of his tactical folders resemble pistol grips, well, let’s just say the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. That said, there’s sound logic behind Abernathy’s grips designs. They put the blade in an aggressive forward position and — like pistol handles — they’re made to fit the hand. Sniper Bladework’s knives are also built with tank-like, failure-is-not-an-option construction.

Instead of breaking up a flock of hens and young birds, I had located the group of turkeys I took this jake from using binoculars, made an educated guess about where they were going, and set up a few hundred yards ahead of them. Half an hour later, without uttering a single yelp, I squeezed off on the plump jake and watched the rest of the flock scurry away, only mildly alarmed. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. — Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888). |
