A home invasion ended with the intruder shot and killed after the homeowner said it was kill or be killed Sunday morning in the Pleasure Ridge Park area.

Shooter Joseph McCoy is not facing charges because police said it appears he fired in self-defense. But the victim's family has another opinion about what happened.

"I kind of panicked," said McCoy. "It was obvious he was trying to kill us. So I did what I had to do to protect me and my family."

Media's Presidential Bias and Decline

The traditional media are playing a very, very dangerous game -- with their readers, with the Constitution and with their own fates.
The sheer bias in the print and television coverage of this election campaign is not just bewildering, but appalling. And over the last few months I've found myself slowly moving from shaking my head at the obvious one-sided reporting, to actually shouting at the screen of my television and my laptop computer.
But worst of all, for the last couple weeks, I've begun -- for the first time in my adult life -- to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living.

"The message for which those of us in the pro-Second Amendment camp are vilified is no more complicated than this: Each of us has a right not to be hurt by someone else, and if someone tries to hurt us, we have a right to protect ourselves.

"The corollary to this fundamental truth is equally simple: We cannot effectively protect ourselves without possessing the means of defense."

CONWAY, Ark. — A shooting that left two students dead at the University of Central Arkansas did not appear to be random, authorities said Monday as the school's president pronounced the campus secure.

Two suspects were being questioned and two others were being sought after Sunday night's shooting, which wounded a third person at the 12,500-student campus.

Interim president Tom Courtway canceled classes Monday but said they would resume Tuesday. "Our campus is safe," he said.

The victims were shot in an alley between a dormitory and the Snow Fine Arts Center.

Submitters note: When will the idiots learn? The campus is not safe. It is a victim disarmament zone and only safe for the miscreants.

Last month, National Review ran a short blurb that was critical of the July raid on Berwyn Heights, Maryland Mayor Cheye Calvo by a Prince George’s County, Maryland SWAT team.

After their short blurb denouncing the raid and the overuse of SWAT tactics in general, Milwaukee police detective and former SWAT officer Kent Corbett wrote a jaw-dropping letter to the editor, in which he not only defends what happened to Calvo, he mocks Calvo and his family with scare quotes:

Sorry if Calvo and his mother-in-law were “restrained” for “almost two hours.” Would you rather have them be comfortable for those two hours, and risk officers’ lives and safety? Calvo should be able to understand what the officers did and why they did it.

Miraculously, a gun (complete with bad guy attached to its handle) has appeared on another gun-free campus.

WESTFIELD, Mass. – An 8-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine gun under adult supervision at a gun fair.

The boy lost control of the weapon while firing it Sunday at the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman's Club, police Lt. Lawrence Valliere said.

The boy, Christopher Bizilj of Ashford, Conn., was with a certified instructor and "was shooting the weapon down range when the force of the weapon made it travel up and back toward his head, where he suffered the injury," a police statement said.

" 'We have really good leads we're following up on right now and we feel the campus is safe,' Swindle said." ...

Typical. Even when an officer hears the shooting he can't do anything about it. Self-defense is banned on the campus. But SWINDLE "feels" it is safe. So it must be safe, right?

Two white supremacists allegedly plotted to go on a national killing spree, shooting and decapitating black people and ultimately targeting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, federal authorities said Monday.

In all, the two men whom officials describe as neo-Nazi skinheads planned to kill 88 people — 14 by beheading, according to documents unsealed in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

A Snohomish County jury has acquitted a Central Washington University student accused of killing another man during a scuffle outside a Mill Creek Halloween party.

Jurors sided Monday with Bryce Dawson Fortier, finding the 23-year-old acted in self-defense when he fatally shot Christopher Chandler, 18, last year. Fortier, a Roosevelt High School graduate, faced conviction of second-degree murder or, alternatively, first-degree manslaughter in the shooting.

Fortier was found not guilty on all charges.

Barack Obama has stated repeatedly during this presidential campaign his support for the Second Amendment Rights of Americans, but his past record and his use of clever, but non-specific terminology, say otherwise. When he talks about “common sense” gun laws he means things like required trigger locks on all guns in the home, which would make those guns mostly useless if actually needed for defense. The following are some of the other “common sense” measures he has supported:

• Obama voted to ban hundreds of rifles and shotguns commonly used for hunting and sport shooting
Illinois Senate, SB 1195, 3/13/03

‘Obamamania' may assault Second Amendment, bring Fairness Doctrine

“Obamamania” having swept the nation through the anointing of Barack Obama by the liberal media ..., it is, indeed, possible Obama will be our next president. Obama's election will bring about an assault on many of our cherished American rights and freedoms.

I predict one of the first things we see will be the most draconian gun control bill introduced by Sen. Schumer (D-N.Y.) that will be supported by Obama. I predict this bill will make the unconstitutional gun ban enacted in 1994 and dubbed the “Clinton gun ban” look mild.

We've repeatedly warned our readers not to believe Barack Obama when he claims to support our Second Amendment rights. We have told you the truth--that Barack Obama is the most anti-gun presidential candidate in American history! Hands down. No question. Barack Obama opposes the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding, freedom-loving, American firearm owners.

We've given the facts, and provided the documentation. But if you know someone who's still not convinced, you'll want to share with them a recent, open letter to our nation's gun owners, hunters, and sportsmen, written by Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) Executive Director Richard Pearson.

Al Franken suggested he and Republican Sen. Norm Coleman agree on gun rights.

“I support the Second Amendment,” Franken said. “I don’t think we’re any different on this.”

Coleman shot that down.

“That is a stunning statement,” he told the Democrat during a Friday night debate among Minnesota’s three major candidates for U.S. Senate.

Coleman, locked in a tight battle with Franken, said his main opponent got a failing grade from the National Rifle Association and has suggested limiting gun ownership.
