In a move more in line with the Chinese Communist Party than the governing body of a major American city, the authoritarians on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Sept. 3rd unanimously passed a resolution designating the National Rifle Association of America a “domestic terrorist organization.” |

The Century NAK9X is what would happen if a Kalashnikov rifle had a baby with a GLOCK handgun. The end result is just stupid-reliable while remaining ugly enough to be almost cute. As one might expect with parents like these, the gun runs like a scalded ape. The NAK9X is made in Romania and those guys clearly know how to make a hard-use firearm. The NAK9X just feels thick. At 6.38 lbs. it’s not really fat, it’s just big boned — like an Uzi or a Thompson. You can just feel this is a real-world tool when you first heft it. |

Western Washington Second Amendment activists are preparing for another round with the Tacoma City Council Tuesday, when that municipal body is scheduled to hear a final reading of a proposed ordinance creating a special tax on firearms and ammunition sales, ostensibly to raise money to fight so-called “gun violence.”
At the first reading, opposition to the tax among citizen speakers was about 3-to-1. According to the Tacoma News Tribune, the council’s main gun tax proponent, Councilman Ryan Mello, acknowledged, “I do not pretend to believe that this tax and these revenues are going to solve our gun violence problems in Tacoma.” |

Massachusetts law currently prohibits ownership of gassault weapons,h the statutory definition of which includes the most popular semi-automatic rifles in the country, as well as gcopies or duplicatesh of any such weapons. As for what that means, your guess is as good as ours. A group of plaintiffs, including two firearm dealers and the Gun Ownersf Action League, challenged the law as an unconstitutional violation of their Second Amendment rights. Unfortunately, both a federal trial judge and appellate court upheld the ban—though they could not agree on why. |

Supreme Court briefs are not known for their colorful writing. Readers are far more likely to encounter austere Latin legalisms than gripping personal narratives. Yet March for Our Lives chose to upend this norm in its amicus brief—a legal filing written by an interested outside party—in the upcoming Supreme Court case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. City of New York. Its brief “presents the voices and stories of young people from Parkland, Florida, to South Central Los Angeles who have been affected directly and indirectly by gun violence.” |

Three people were killed and 21 others were wounded by gun violence over the weekend across Chicago. The most recent fatal shooting left a 26-year-old man dead Sunday night in East Garfield Park on the West Side. He was standing on the sidewalk about 10:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Van Buren Street when someone in a passing yellow sedan shot him in the neck and chest, Chicago police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. |

Parker County officials and residents shared their thoughts about a resolution designating the county as a second amendment sanctuary county at Monday’s commissioners court meeting, which was approved by the court. “I put this item on the agenda about this resolution because I feel that some of these socialist gun-takers that are getting elected or trying to be elected are trying to take some of our guns now and more later,” Precinct 1 Commissioner George Conley said. |

In what he said was an unscripted acceptance speech on Sunday night, comedian Dave Chappelle continued his recent campaign against cancel culture—while openly defying a smoking ban and defending the right to bear arms too. Chappelle was fêted on Sunday night in Washington, D.C., as this year's recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, a lifetime achievement award bestowed annually by the Kennedy Center. Known for his irreverent and boundary-pushing sketch comedy show and standup routines, Chappelle has never shied away from an opportunity to eviscerate political correctness for laughs. Sunday's event was no different, according to media reports.

“[U]tilitarian ethics refers to the judgment of a course of action being good (right) or bad (wrong) based on societal consequences, such as cost, and not necessarily on benefits to the individual,” Miguel A. Faria, Jr., M.D. writes in America, Guns, and Freedom, an exhaustive study on the Second Amendment and its perversion for political purposes by the medical establishment. “Physicians have been trained from time immemorial to place the interest of the patient first, rather than society, and never do harm to the patient deliberately under any circumstances.” |

Firearms enthusiasts in Eastern Washington have launched an initiative campaign to repeal Initiative 1639, the measure passed by voters last November that raises the minimum age for purchase of semiautomatic assault rifles from 18 to 21 and imposes a 10-day waiting period. "I'm pretty certain they know it's going to be challenging. It's serious alright -- this sort of sprang up without warning," Dave Workman, a pro-gun rights writer who broke the story in Ammoland Shooting Sports News, wrote in an e-mail. |

Politics and news of mass shootings seem to be driving Colorado gun sales up. August and September are typically slow months, but gun sales were up 11 and 9 percent respectively, according to data from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. That’s the first significant back-to-back monthly increase in three years, before the 2016 presidential election. Mass shootings tend to drive sales. The more high profile the shooting, the more gun store activity there is, no matter the party in office. |
