Airgun shooting sports in the U.S. have seen substantial growth in recent years, across various disciplines such as field target, benchrest, and practical shooting like NRL .22. The number of hunters using airguns has also seen explosive growth, primarily for small game and pest control. However, one niche area that has been emerging into the mainstream is the use of the most powerful air rifles to hunt big game like pigs, deer, and even elk.

Jared Golden was a 36-year-old state lawmaker, waging his first bid for Maine's 2nd Congressional District in 2018, when his campaign released a TV ad that raised eyebrows nationally. The ad opened with a rifle aimed at a distant bullseye as a narrator accused the Republican incumbent, Bruce Poliquin, of taking "pot shots" at Golden that were "way off target." And it ends with Golden — a tattooed, Marine Corps veteran — shouldering his own rifle and telling viewers that unlike Poliquin, he's "straight shooter" — just before his shot hits the target dead-center. |

Former President Barack Obama was right about soon-to-be-former President Joe Biden when, reportedly during the 2020 primary season, Obama told an unidentified fellow Democrat, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f— things up.”
That remark has been widely repeated, once in a Politico store in August 2020, and again a year later in the Washington Free Beacon. It is the stuff from which political legends are made. |

A new Rasmussen poll released Tuesday shows Vice President Kamala Harris with a 51 percent unfavorable rating among likely voters, with only a week remaining until the national election.
Coincidental to that survey release, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms issued a call to gun owners to vote, noting a report that Donald Trump is up by 6 points on the gun rights issue. The national grassroots gun rights organization said in a statement that gun voters could make the difference, especially in critical “battleground states.” |

There’s been a fair amount of hyperbole bantered about in the run up to the 2024 election. Voters have been subjected to admonitions that former President Donald Trump is a “threat to democracy.” There have been warnings that this election could be the last free election and accusations that the military could be weaponized against political foes.

Republicans are casting Vice President Kamala Harris as a threat to gun rights in Pennsylvania as the culture wars take an outsize role in the presidential race. Harris has tacked to the right on gun restrictions since taking over the Democratic ticket in August. She still supports a ban on assault-style weapons but no longer says those guns should be turned over in a mandatory buyback program.

The Second Amendment has two very distinct parts. The first portion states: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,” refers to Militias, not weapons. In fact, its preposition infers that the second portion of the amendment: “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,” deals with weapons of war. |

The 300 AAC Blackout and 308 Winchester are both 30-caliber rifle cartridges that shoot a .308” diameter bullet. However, this is where the similarities end as both cartridges have a different intended purpose.
In this caliber comparison article, we are going to take a detailed look at both the 300 AAC Blackout and the 308 Winchester. Unlike previous articles, I won’t “crown a winner” because the difference between 308 vs 300 Blackout is comparing apples to oranges. |

Gun owners in the nation’s capital will continue to face ammunition magazine capacity limits, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday. A divided three-judge panel for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a lower court decision upholding DC’s ban on the possession and sale of what it called “extra-large capacity magazines” (ELCMs). The panel ruled the city’s ten-round limit for magazines fit within the nation’s historical tradition of regulating “particularly dangerous weapons” and those “capable of unprecedented lethality,” even though there weren’t similar bans when the Second Amendment was ratified. |

In a high-stakes lawsuit, attorney and former congressional candidate David Burg is challenging New Jersey’s “Extreme Risk Protection Order” (ERPO) law, commonly known as a “Red Flag” law, which allows authorities to seize firearms from individuals deemed to be a threat. Burg, joined by the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, argues that the state’s laws are infringing on constitutional gun rights, particularly the right to self-defense outside the home. |
