So Rahm, how's that gun control working out for you? The City of Chicago just saw its 436th murder of 2012, surpassing 435 murders from 2011. At this point, that means a total of 871 people murdered with no end in site as Chicago politicians push for more gun control ideas. “It’s a disappointing milestone,” Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said on the CBS 2 Morning News. “You can’t manage this and you can’t talk about murder in a positive fashion.”
Over the weekend, six people were killed and 14 wounded.

Four top Justice Department officials had failures of memory 249 times during interviews with congressional investigators looking for answers about Operation Fast and Furious, according to the second installment of a joint staff report on the scandal from Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley. That revelation is found on the second-to-the-last page of the 104-page report, released Monday while most of official Washington, D.C. was riding out Hurricane Sandy. This column began digging into the report yesterday. The report may be read here, and exhibits may be viewed here.

The pathwork of different gun laws from state to state has led many criminals to purchase firearms in states with less restrictions to be used elsewhere. A new widget from New York public radio station WNYC uses data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to track origins of recovered firearms that were used in crimes.
Idaho leads the pack internally with 299 recovered guns that were initially sold in the Gem State. Next in line is Washington, which sold 48 guns that were later recovered by law enforcement in Idaho. Though there were many states with no sales of guns recovered in Idaho, the low score was Virginia, which sold four guns that were later recovered in Idaho.

For Harry Potter, there is the name that dare not be spoken, his archenemy Lord Voldemort. But give Harry credit: He is defiant enough to speak the name out loud, always to a chorus of "shush!"President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney would rather not mention the unspeakable, even though the winner will have to confront it.
Through three 90-minute debates and innumerable campaign appearances, the candidates have made precious little mention of the "fiscal cliff," a year-end whammy of tax hikes and budget cuts that could send the economy deep into recession. Nor has there been much discussion of such hot-button topics as climate change and same-sex marriage.

Nothing has done more to boost activity among gun-rights advocates — and the business of gun builders and retailers — than the 2008 election of Barack Obama. Following his 2008 campaign comments that people in rural areas “cling to their guns and religion,” gun advocates have used the comment as a foil in promoting their cause.
Yet, compared to the Clinton administration’s passage of the Brady Bill, the Obama presidency has done little in the way of advancing gun control legislation. Bans on certain types of weaponry that expired under President Bush in 2004 have not been resurrected.

FRIDLEY, Minn. - The frustration in firearms dealer Mike Briggs' voice is unmistakeable.
How else is a businessman supposed to feel when he's been targeted by thieves three times in the past 15 months, losing tens of thousands of dollars in the process.
The latest break-in occurred around 9 p.m. Monday at the Trail's End Bass Pro Shop on the corner of Highway 65 and Osborne Road in Fridley. Briggs says a boulder the size of a bowling ball was thrown through a plate glass window in front of the store, and then at least one person slipped through the iron security bars inside. |

In the wake of tragedy, state legislators put politics aside and passed a bill to strengthen criminal penalties for gun trafficking. The move came just weeks after Michael Joseph Henry was arrested for supplying the gun that was used to murder Officer Bradley Fox.
As mayors, we witness how violence devastates not only the victims of crime, but whole families and communities, and we commend the legislature for passing this bill. But it will take a concerted effort to crack down on gun violence, and we hope that leaders in Harrisburg will stay the course and continue to fight for common-sense bills that keep guns out of the wrong hands.

Anti-gun Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel should shoulder some of the blame for his city’s on-going bloodbath because his policies are leaving citizens defenseless against the violent criminal element, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
Emanuel, former chief of staff for President Barack Obama – who adopted Chicago as his home town – has “perpetuated the draconian anti-gun policies of his predecessor even after the Supreme Court ruling in 2010 essentially nullified the city’s ban on handgun ownership.”
“Rahm Emanuel has some blood on his hands,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb observed. |

What is “gun homicide” or “gun crime”? Do we have knife homicide, poison homicide or rope homicide? Not unless we are really really stupid because the means or instrument has nothing to do with causing the homicide. Daily we watch and see propaganda and the most evil of organisations at work indoctrinating us and say nothing. We don't object and could nor be bothered and then one day we wake up and say what happened, why did somebody not do something?

’Ive got a question for everyone reading this: How many of your problems in the last four years were you able to solve only because of your ready access to an army-issue M-16 assault rifle?
If your answer was greater than or equal to one, don’t fret — the federal government’s black helicopters won’t be landing in your backyard to take your guns away anytime soon. As of last week, the National Rifle Association is on the case, buying more than $1.3 million worth of airtime in major swing states such as Florida, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Film posted by fanatics online shows the all-female unit using a fearsome array of weapons, including machine-guns, grenade rocket launchers and sniper rifles.
The women are thought to have been recruited from the war-torn Russian republic of Chechyna by an al-Qaeda-linked group, with bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Terror experts believe that — because they are less likely to attract suspicion than men — they are being schooled to infiltrate and attack military bases and official buildings.

KIRO TV has published a map of registered concealed pistol licensees by zip code for the state of Washington. GeorgiaCarry.org filed suit against the law calling it unconstitutional.
"They should have the ability to say that you can carry on their property or you can't carry on their property or we don't really care what you do on our property," says executive director Jerry Henry. |

Do any of you shoot with a tactical light mounted on the rails of your self defense or police duty pistol?
If so, you have likely experienced immense frustration trying to remove the burnt carbon residue from the light’s lens after a long shooting session. The lenses get carboned-up very quickly and the residue is very difficult to remove. At the police department, we use a special carbon cleaner to remove it, but that solution has been less than satisfactory. Often the carbon won’t come off, even after using the special solvent. It is a constant source of frustration for my officers.

Last week’s Virginia Register contained the final publication of Radford's weapons ban. This may seem rather sudden to those familiar with the rather long and complex ‘notice and comment’ process by which most regulations are promulgated in Virginia. After all, the regulation was only first voted on by the Radford University Board of Visitors on Friday September 14th.
However, thanks to the ill-advised fast-track regulatory power granted to state-operated colleges and universities by § 2.2-4002(A)(6), the regulation becomes effective immediately upon publication without any public notice or comment period as would normally be the case.
It is with great sadness that I noted the final regulation bans not only firearms but also ... |

When the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) first requested authority to require gun dealers in four southwest border states to report sales of more than one semi-automatic, detachable magazine-fed rifle (presented as "assault weapons," since the accurate description is insufficiently "scary") to the same purchaser within five days, the request was carefully framed so that it could be presented as "reasonable." It would only be those four states, it was only certain types of rifles (which just happened to be the most popular centerfire rifles in the country), and the purchases would still be legal--"merely" monitored (and BATFE has had little to say about the implications of that "monitoring"). |

A House committee's lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder over his refusal to turn over some documents related to the fallout from Operation Fast and Furious will move forward at a faster pace than the parties requested, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
The Justice Department moved on Oct. 15 to throw out the lawsuit brought by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and agreed with the House panel that it's lawyers could have two months to respond to that motion. However, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson rejected that proposal on Wednesday, saying that the House committee should file its response by Nov. 16. |
