Delta North Senator Ned Nwoko has renewed his appeal for the federal government to permit Nigerians to bear arms for self-defense.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Senator Nwoko suggested that allowing citizens to carry arms would help address the country’s security challenges by enabling them to protect themselves.
He argued that, given the extensive security issues, citizens resorting to self-defense could be a reasonable approach. |

A lot of people disagree with the Supreme Court these days. A potential Second Amendment case from Hawaii could give the court’s conservative majority a chance to push back on some of those critics.
In Wilson v. Hawaii, the defendant is asking the Supreme Court to side with a petitioner who was charged with unlawful possession of a gun and criminal trespass. The Hawaii Supreme Court rejected his arguments on various grounds—and took the opportunity to rebuke its federal counterpart for its recent Second Amendment rulings in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen and others.

Montana’s Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte is running for his second term against a political first-timer, Democrat Ryan Busse, in an election that some think is already decided thanks to the state of Montana politics.
Gianforte’s campaign has adopted an aura of inevitability. According to recent polling from AARP, Gianforte has a 16-point lead over Busse. Gianforte is spending roughly half of what Busse is on his campaign. He isn’t organizing big rallies or seeking out the press, and he only reluctantly agreed to debate Busse in mid-October, after mail-in voting is already underway.

Americans understand we face a momentous presidential contest this year. There is little need for my usual warning—no less true for how often it’s been repeated—that this is the most important election of our lifetimes. Each cycle in recent years has seen a sharper divergence on Second Amendment issues between the parties and their candidates. The Republican Party’s platform expressly speaks of the need to “defend … the right to keep and bear arms.” The Democrat Party platform, meanwhile, doesn’t even recognize the Second Amendment’s existence, and instead devotes one of its nine chapters to endorsing end-stage gun control. |

American Militias are as crucial to our Republic as is freedom of speech.
The Second Amendment has two very distinct parts. The first portion states: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,” refers to Militias, not weapons. In fact, its preposition infers that the second portion of the amendment: “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,” deals with weapons of war.
In fact, the Supreme Court ruled as much in its 1939 ruling in United States v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939). That case involved a man who transported a shotgun across state lines with a barrel less than 18″ long in violation of the 1934 National Firearms Act. |

A while back, Oregon voters approved Measure 114. It ushered in a host of gun control laws, none of which are really in keeping with the right to keep and bear arms. Then again, what gun control law is?
As is only right, the passage triggered a number of lawsuits. However, it seems attorneys for the state think the law should be allowed to go into effect because of the state's own self-delusion. |

New numbers from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) show more than 100 firearms have been confiscated at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport since the start of the year, marking a possible record.
According to the TSA, the 100th firearm of the year was discovered Monday. TSA officers said they detected a loaded .40 caliber Springfield XD9 pistol in the carry-on bag of a passenger headed to Maui. |

Attorney General John M. Formella announces that the New Hampshire Department of Justice has completed its investigation into the shooting death of Samuel Lozada (age 24) in Bartlett, New Hampshire on July 5, 2023.
The final investigation report concludes that Jason Sanchez (age 23) shot and killed Samuel Lozada during an altercation in a parking lot in the vicinity of 25 Nordic Wilderness Road, Bartlett. Mr. Lozada and Mr. Sanchez were both armed with pistols, and both shot each other. Mr. Sanchez claims that he acted in self-defense. |

A hunter faced a life-threatening encounter with a sow grizzly bear on October 26 while elk hunting north of Kilgore, near Mule Meadows.
The hunter was walking through thick timber when a grizzly unexpectedly emerged and ran directly at him. The hunter used his hunting rifle to shoot the bear. It did not make contact with the hunter.
The hunter immediately reported the incident to the Clark County Sheriff's Office. Forest Service Law Enforcement and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game responded. |

A federal appeals court has rejected a challenge to the District of Columbia’s ban on extra large capacity magazines.
A split panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled against four gun owners who argued that they needed magazines that hold up to 17 bullets for self-defense.
U.S. Circuit Judge Patricia Millett, a Barack Obama appointee, and Senior Circuit Judge Douglas Ginsburg, a Ronald Reagan appointee, sided with the district, while U.S. Circuit Judge Justin Walker, a Donald Trump appointee, dissented.

“All he had to do was get back in his car and we would not be here,” Assistant Attorney General Kenny Gibbs told jurors in closing arguments.
Johnson took the stand during the trial. He testified that he did not know that Williams was a law enforcement officer. Johnson said he got out of his truck when he saw Williams yelling at his friend. He testified that Williams grabbed him by the throat and pointed a gun at him.
“If John Williams identified himself, Will would not have been afraid for his life,” defense attorney Terry Luck told jurors in closing arguments, according to the station.
Johnson, now 23, was 18 at the time of the shooting. |

Billionaire Elon Musk has been ordered to attend a Philadelphia court hearing on Thursday after he was sued by District Attorney Larry Krasner over his $1 million giveaway to voters.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in a courtroom at City Hall in Center City, according to a court document.
Last week, Krasner sued Musk and alleged that Musk and his super PAC are trying to influence voters in next week’s presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. |

The state of Hawaii has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation. Some of those regulations make New York and California gun control activists green with envy because they can't do the same just yet.

The United States Court of Appeals for The District of Columbia Circuit disregarded the text, history, and tradition of the Second Amendment and ruled that DC’s magazine ban is Constitutional.
The case, Hanson v. District of Columbia, challenged the city’s ban on magazines holding more than ten rounds. The plaintiffs wanted to own 17-round magazines, the standard size for Glock 17s and other full-size handguns. The Circuit Court referred to these magazines as extra-large capacity magazines (ELCM). |
