Euless, TX -- A Trinity High School sophomore afraid he was going to be beaten up carried a loaded handgun around the school for most of Thursday before he was detained by a school resource officer and a school official, police said Friday.

The gun belonged to the boy's father, police said.

"He had taken it out of a safe where his father kept it," Kockos said. "We don't anticipate to pursue any charges against the father. He did everything he could to keep the gun in a safe place."

KABA NOTE: If schools were safe, students wouldn't feel a need to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
