Eyewitness News has learned that among the bikers on the Henry Hudson last weekend, were five off-duty NYPD officers. Sources say at least two detectives witnessed the attack on Alexian Lien and did not directly intervene. And investigators are still working to determine what role, if any, was played by the other three officers. What is clear, sources say, is that the men did not begin to come forward until late Wednesday, four full-days after the incident. And detectives are also investigating reports that several others in the group may have been off-duty New York City correction officers. An undercover detective has informed Internal Affairs that he was present at the time of the confrontation. |

“It’s not the age, it’s the mileage,” said Indiana Jones. In my case, it’s also lack of maintenance. The fact is, though, that a lot of folks find in their older years that the favorite guns of their salad days no longer seem to work as well for them as they once did. For my part, I’m happy to have made it this long; it’s the decrepitude, not the age, that bothers me.
The late, great Col. Jeff Cooper was well into Social Security age when he commented that as “geezerhood” approached, he didn’t need a specific “geezer gun.” I can understand that for a couple of reasons. One was that his trademark pistol, the 1911 .45, was and is remarkably forgiving in older hands.

It appears anti-gun Piers Morgan is going to be leaving CNN. Piers Morgan is known as an gun control advocate. He gained notoriety in the United States for being an advocate of banning the AR-15. Because he is a British citizen, many Americans have been insulted and infuriated by his relentless attacks on the 2nd Amendment and endless interrogations of pro-2nd Amendment Americans.
FTVLive stated that CNN Boss Jeff Zucker is “actively looking for a replacement for Piers Morgan.” Rumor has it Katie Couric is being considered as a replacement.
Piers Morgan’s show can hardly be regarded as journalism, but fall squarely in the realm of propaganda. |

A female student at Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills was ordered to change out of her t-shirt because it promoted the NRA. According to CBS Los Angeles, Haley Bullwinkle said she was sent to the principal's office in September "for violating the school's dress code that forbids offensive, violent, or divisive clothing." The "offensive" shirt was a gift from Bullwinkle's father, which he gave her after he became a member of the NRA. The shirt "shows a buck, an American flag, and a hunter's silhouette." Under this is inscribed: "National Rifle Association of America: Protecting America's Traditions Since 1871."

This argument comes up more and more as it becomes more widely-known that despite the skyrocketing levels of gun ownership in this country, crime is down, killing sprees are down, and people are safer than ever.
It also stems from the well-recognized and precisely deliberated right to bear arms, and that the courts have upheld that the Second Amendment doesn’t give people any rights, it explicitly prevents the government from infringing on that right.

At the time, State Senator Greg Ball said, “This isn’t only about the Second Amendment, this about privacy…it’s absolutely bone-headed for this editorial board to take law-abiding firearm owners and treat them [like] a level –three sexual predator.”
The paper says Putnam has denied two Freedom of Information requests and an appeal.
County officials have yet to respond to the lawsuit, saying they have not been served with papers.
County Executive Mary-Ellen Odell said Thursday, “I am completely confident that the county will prevail. Our point is that the risk to public safety and the invasion of privacy should exceed anyone’s interest to profit.” |

It will involve the two sides talking to one another instead of shouting at one another. It will involve compromise, giving up something to get something in return. It will involve gun owners and gun control advocates coming to terms and reaching a consensus on some of the most hotly debated issues: bans on civilian versions of military grade arms, bans on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, universal background checks, among others. |

Chairman Lance Thate reported to Historic City News that Janet Smith will be the guest speaker for next week’s regular meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party where the topic for the evening will be the proposed “Second Amendment Preservation Act”.
A draft of the proposed law is already being circulated in 14 Florida counties; and fans are looking for support from St Johns County voters who want to tighten restrictions on Federal incursions into the right of citizens to bear firearms. |

They say we should compromise, forgetting we’ve already complied with the 1934 National Firearms Act, the 1968 Gun Control Act, the 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act, the 1993 Brady Handgun Violence Act, the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and the 1994 Gun Free School Zones Act. None has curbed crime, and some have made it worse. |

Bill Bunting, a state committeeman from Pasco County who leads the party’s Second Amendment campaign, talked to local leaders about the effort to connect with gun owners and underscore the party’s support for issues like concealed weapons permits.
“We’re hitting hundreds of thousands of people,” Bunting said. “But we have to hit everybody. We have to hit every gun shop, every gun range, everybody who owns a gun.”

Christian Sinderman, a spokesman for the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility, said that while the group doesn’t think it has enough signatures to qualify the measure for the ballot just yet, “we’re excited about where we are.”
“We want to assess where we are in terms of actual numbers and use this as an opportunity to demonstrate the incredible support for the measure and help us build momentum through the fall,” he said.

Media critics are likely to have a field day with coverage of yesterday’s fatal shooting of Miriam Carey in Washington, D.C., because the mainstream press, including the Seattle Times, has not done what it is typical; sensationalized the incident by proclaiming that police gunned down an unarmed African American single mother.
That Ms. Carey posed a threat to public safety can hardly be argued after so much video of the incident has been streaming across the Internet and shown on national television. |

Donnell Deshawn Stean caught a right hand over his left eye from a punch thrown by Rickey Bernard Howard Jr. He fought back with a shot to the chest from his 9mm handgun. Howard fell dead, but on Friday, Stean got to walk out of jail a free man after a Sacramento Superior Court jury found that he killed in self-defense and acquitted him of voluntary manslaughter. |

The National Rifle Association has announced it will sue the state of California if Gov. Jerry Brown signs into a law a bill tightening restrictions on the use of semiautomatic weapons.
A dozen gun control bills await signatures from Brown. One of them is SB 374, which would change the definition of an assault rifle to include any semiautomatic rifle with a detachable magazine, and limit fixed magazines to 10 rounds or less.
SB 374 would be another in a long line of gun-control bills recently passed in the state, but it would be the most far-reaching of bills since the 1990s. |

The concealed carry debate continued in a Chicago courtroom Thursday. Arguments centered on whether or not valid FOID card holders should be able to carry firearms before the first of the year.
"We're seeking an injunction so that Mary Shepard and others who are similarly situated can start carry a firearm today," attorney David Thompson said.
