"While the City of Chicago is currently in federal court stubbornly defending its new gun ordinance, data reveals that the city's United Center Park is the most dangerous neighborhood in the country, a situation that reeks of hypocrisy, the [CCRKBA] said today."

"'The city's new gun ordinance is deliberately designed to discourage citizens from obtaining handguns for personal protection,' noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, 'yet today's news reveals citizens in at least one Windy City neighborhood are in desperate need of the training and tools to defend themselves. It is time for Chicago residents to demand that the city amend or abolish its new gun ordinance, and stop defending it in federal court.'" ...

"The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) today announced the launch of its first online store, aimed at generating additional revenue to help fund its continuing legal challenges to excessively restrictive state and local gun laws across the nation."

"This new venture comes on the heels of SAF’s Supreme Court victory in McDonald v. City of Chicago, and a successful Gun Rights Policy Conference in San Francisco late last month. SAF will use the online enterprise to build its legal action war chest. Currently, SAF is engaged in legal actions in Maryland, North Carolina, New York’s Westchester County, and again in Chicago. Other challenges are on the horizon." ...

"As we discussed last Friday, NRA's Political Victory Fund has posted its grades and endorsements for the 2010 elections. While that column focused on the Nevada U.S. Senate race between Harry Reid and Sharron Angle, a U.S. House race in California gives us the oppportunity to do a comparative assessment for consistency in the way candidates are rated and endorsed."

"They have given Dan Lungren a 'B+' and, more importantly, their endorsement. Recall that Angle received an 'A' and no endorsement, while incumbent Reid got a 'B' and almost $5,000 in campaign contributions, along with a glowing media testimonial."

"Shall we see if Lungren is a superior defender of the right to keep and bear arms ..?" ...

"An incredible--and later proven unfounded--paranoia swept the country ... when it started to look like a perceived anti-gunner, Barack Obama, might become Commander-in-Chief. The rest of the economy tanked, but thanks to Obama, the gun industry flourished and had its best three-year run ever. ... Americans now own at least 250 million guns, more than one per adult, including at least 20 million firearms gun control advocates might call 'assault weapons.' Second Amendment was meant for different guns

FULL TEXT BELOW:

I would like to comment on the article by Josh Grossberg ("Open-carry gun debate comes to MB fair," Sunday). I wonder how the framers of our Constitution would feel if they were around today.

Think back, it is 1791. The Second Amendment to the Constitution, the right to bear arms, has been passed into law. Remember it is 1791. Guns would be made by a locksmith, have rudimentary rifling, be single-shot weapons, be loaded through the muzzle, and fire by means of a flintlock.

Who would have objected to that?

Submitter's Note: And the First Amendment was meant for different printing presses, was not meant for electronic media, was written before Mormons, Reform or Reconstructionist Judiaism, the American Church of Satan . . . The Fourth Amenment was not meant for computers telephones and automobiles . . . This is a slippery slope you do not want to start down.

The National Rifle Association’s political action committee has endorsed Democratic incumbent Earl Pomeroy in North Dakota’s U.S. House race.

Both Pomeroy and Republican challenger Rick Berg received “A” grades in the NRA-PAC’s election assessment, which is based on candidates’ records and answers to a questionnaire.

The “A” grade indicates Pomeroy and Berg are “solidly pro-gun,” supported NRA positions on key votes and/or have a demonstrated record of support for Second Amendment issues.

The PAC said it endorsed Pomeroy because of a variety of positions he’s held supporting gun-related legislation and court cases.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Today the taxing power, rather than chattel slavery, is the instrument by which the parasitical element of the population subsists. And that element, which includes politicians, panics at the slightest reduction in the state's power to plunder.
