Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson could not answer whether Second Amendment gun rights advocates can open carry guns as poll watchers on Election Day.
We’ve watched as guns have been carried to and inside the Michigan capitol building during heated political discussions. The guns are legal there.
Benson told reporters in Detroit that she’s working with the Michigan Attorney General and, “I would be very concerned about that if anyone does that and we’re going to be looking at what the law does and does not allow. We’ll be making a clear announcement as we get closer.” |

Montana gun owners are facing a tough fight to protect and strengthen that state’s preemption statute as big-money gun prohibition lobbying groups are pitching in to prevent passage of a legislative referendum that would fix loopholes in the law and prevent local governments from adopting their own restrictive gun control ordinances.
Known as LR-130, the referendum would revise the current law to “prevent a patchwork of restrictions by local governments.” Preemption laws were passed in several states as far back as 35 years ago when Washington State adopted its law. |

A Louisiana family is suing the Jefferson Parish school system after their son, a fourth grader, was suspended six days over a BB gun that was spotted by a teacher during virtual class.
Breitbart News reported the suspension on September 24, 2020, noting that the fourth grader, Ka’Mauri Harrison, indicated he reached down and moved the BB gun off the floor in order to keep his younger brother from tripping over it. |

It should come as no surprise the Ruger name is synonymous with value, and its’ AR-556 looks to fit this mold as an entry-level AR-15 with a reasonable MSRP. So how does the no-frills Ruger AR-556 perform when put to the test? Read on to find out. The AR-15 has morphed over the last decade into so many different iterations, so I often take a baseline on any AR I review, looking carefully at what is different from the first model created by Eugene Stoner. Some manufacturers have changed features quite a bit over the years, but Ruger’s AR-556 is only modestly dissimilar. |

As the nightly news depicts protests, sometimes followed by rioting mobs, across many of our nation’s cities, the fundamental right to self-defense in the United States is under attack. While the majority of protesters merely seek to have their voices heard in a peaceful manner, there are emboldened, lawless elements that have exploited national tragedy to engage in mayhem that is not part of civic discourse. |

Despite all the atrocities of the Second World War, this global conflict gave our country’s fighting men and women some of the greatest individual battlefield weapons of the 20th century. While most of them have been retired from government duty by more advanced designs, these veteran World War II arms, like our Armed Forces veterans themselves, have attained a certain immortality, not only as symbols of America’s ongoing fight for freedom, but also as weapons still prized for their reliability and effectiveness. |

We are in the midst of COVID 19 reality, and even for those who are back to work we are generally doing far less in our normal routine. One thing that many shooters are finding diminished or absent is live fire training with their handgun. While shooting ammunition through your gun regularly is an essential part of skills development, a great way to offset the diminishment of your skillset is to embrace a daily routine of dry fire. Dry fire is actually just as critical in training as is live fire, and most contemporary top-shelf competitive shooters spend more time dry firing than live firing their gun. |

Quite possibly the most iconic cartridge in the United States, the .45 Colt was developed by gunmaker Samuel Colt as a black powder cartridge in 1872, for the Colt Single Action Army (aka the Peacemaker) revolver. This cartridge features a .454-inch bullet inside a rimmed, straight-walled case that measures 1.285 inches in length. Commonly called the .45 Long Colt (LC), the overall length of the round is 1.6 inches. It features a large pistol primer and is pressurized to 14,000 pounds per square inch (psi). |
