That old Browning 12 gauge pump shotgun your grandfather left you when he died, is still something you could "assault" someone with, so it too will eventually be labelled as an "assault weapon."
"That's absurd!"
Really?.........you obviously have a computer or you wouldn't be reading this. Look up H.R.1022, one of MANY anti-gun proposals sponsored by our "party of change", and see what else is on the first list besides AR's and AK's. This is why the NRA will NEVER comprimise. They KNOW as do most of us gun owning individuals, what ANY comprimise will lead to. I don't have a problem with a good neighbor who might own a belt-fed machine gun. I WANT him next door if we're ever invaded from outside OR WITHIN. |

President-elect Barack Obama won't move into the Oval Office for months yet, but already he's providing a big boost to at least one sector of Montana's economy.
“Our sales are way up,” said Ray Strash, at Kalispell's Brass and Bullets. “I can't even get any AR-15-style rifles. Everyone's out. The suppliers are all back-ordered, and I told them, ‘Don't even call us - just ship them as soon as you can, because we'll take whatever we can get.' ”
Nationwide, gun enthusiasts are buying up weaponry in preparation for what they fear will be a federal firearms crackdown under the Obama administration. |

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today called on Democrats to "be honest" with America's 90 million gun owners and "tell us whether your campaign claims of adherence to the Second Amendment were all lies."
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said gun owners are legitimately alarmed that president-elect Barack Obama has selected virulent anti-gun-rights Democrat Rahm Emanuel as his White House chief of staff. Emanuel was "point man" on gun ban efforts for the Clinton Administration. |

The NRA came out forcefully against Barack Obama during the campaign, warning its members that he would be “the most anti-gun president in American history.” And though the group's endorsement of Obama’s Republican rival was criticized by some gun rights and conservation advocates in the hunting community (as we blogged about a couple months ago), Obama clearly took the threat of the NRA’s vitriol seriously, going out of his way to reassure voters that he didn’t plan to strip them of their firearms. |

President-elect Obama should implement seven tested and proven initiatives that will have an immediate impact on reducing gun related violence, accidents and suicides without affecting the Second Amendment or having any negative impact on responsible and law abiding gun owners.
Of the average 34,000 gun deaths in the US every year approximately 11,000 are homicides, 18,000 are suicides and 5,000 are unintentional accidents. We can change these horrific numbers.

Defector. Traitor. Turncoat.
These qualifiers and others were recently applied to Dan Cooper, mostly by gun activists in cyberspace who spurned his much-publicized endorsement of President-elect Barack Obama.
Through that endorsement - and by donating $3,300 to the Obama campaign - Cooper, the founder of a Stevensville rifle dealership, broke factional ranks with fellow shooters and sportsmen. Opinions, judgments and hostile sentiments flared up within the blogosphere at full tilt as gun partisans vowed to boycott Cooper-made rifles, calling on others to do the same with brio [Ed.: with vigor]. |

Said leader [Obama] claims to favor the rights of the people under the Second Amendment, yet asks that Pennsylvania law be crushed. Recently, he called for a National Security Corps with powers to equal the Department of Defense.
One only wonders if this corps will wear black or brown shirts and which office it will occupy in newspapers, radio stations and schools. |

A Second Amendment gun case that originated in Marion County is now at the United States Supreme Court. The Highest Court in the Nation began hearing arguments from the 2004 case of United States vs. Hayes on Monday.
The case revolves around a federal law that makes it a crime to possess a gun after a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to decide whether a misdemeanor of simple battery fulfills the definition of domestic violence. The Court will also decide if the law can be applied retroactively since the conviction of battery happened back in 1994 before the federal statute was passed. |

Sarah Palin told local reporters in Alaska that unhappiness with the Bush administration’s Iraq war policy and spending record were responsible for the GOP ticket’s defeat this year.
“I think the Republican ticket represented too much of the status quo, too much of what had gone on in these last eight years, that Americans were kind of shaking their heads like going, wait a minute, how did we run up a $10 trillion debt in a Republican administration?” Palin told the Anchorage Daily News and Alaska’s KTUU Channel 2.
“How have there been blunders with war strategy under a Republican administration?

I was sad to see that AmmoMan.com, the best place on earth in my humble opinion to get ammo for the past several years, increased its prices 25% basically overnight Tuesday. AmmoMan is not alone as the news today was filled with stories about gun stores across the country running out of weapons and ammunition. The reason is obvious.
What was about $200 per case of 1,000 rounds Monday is now $249. I only checked the 7.62 stock but my friends tell me the higher prices are uniform elsewhere on all ammunition. I looked up the prices on some small pistol reloading primers I am selling on GunBroker.com right now and I was shocked to see that many mail-order companies are currently "Out of Stock" on them.
I woke up Wednesday morning without any more of a worry than I had when I awoke Tuesday morning. Was the election a death-knell for America? Well yes in many ways it was death for many things due to changes that will surely come, but as Becky Akers said so well, the sun still came up. Some eyes will be opened. Things will be worse than some predict and better than others predict.
A price will be paid by all of us.
I just wish it wasn’t the price of ammunition. |

"There's more than congresscritters on here," observed Mike Ball.
""Yeah," said Avakian, "there's TV talking heads, newspaper editors, U.S. Attorneys, supervisory federal policemen, and a grocery list of anti-gun politicians, local, state and national. I warned them too. Just notes, short and sweet: 'You have been judged guilty of supporting, soliciting or assisting in the use of deadly force to impose a tyrannical scheme of gun control on the American people. Innocent Americans have died as a result. Renounce your opinions, quit your jobs, run and hide now and you can live. Continue with what you've been doing and you'll be killed as a legitimate target of war.'" And I signed it, 'The American Republican Army.'" |

The Albany Gun Violence Task Force has completed its yearlong study and sent a list of recommendations for preventing youth gun violence to the Common Council and Mayor Jerry Jennings. Among the 16 recommendations are plans to develop curricula at Albany City Schools aimed at reducing aggressive behavior, establish an outreach program that would recruit "high-risk" clients and expand gang prevention programming. Council members received the list Friday. They said they would review the recommendations this week and could begin discussion at a caucus Wednesday at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. |

As firearm sales continue to increase this year, at a rate of 10 percent over the same period last year and 15 percent in October alone, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) -- the trade association for the firearms industry -- is pointing to gun-owner concerns about an Obama Administration as reason for the boom. Last week President-elect Obama's Web site had posted his administration's agenda for curtailing the Second Amendment rights of law abiding Americans, thereby validating the concerns of gun owners, sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts all across the country. Curiously, the Obama-Biden gun control agenda was taken down from the Web site after just two days. |

But the revolutionary idea doesn't necessarily have to be a new or radical concept; sometimes the idea that is put forth just seems radical because it is old wisdom that has been largely forgotten. Once it is put before a modern audience, the truth contained within the concept resonates with the modern listener, and the person that brought the concept forth is considered to be a visionary, if not a genius.
Dave Ramsey is such a man. Now, before you roll your eyes and move on to the next article, consider this; Dave Ramsey was espousing individual fiscal conservatism at the same time that our president was telling us to charge our purchases and take out loans for the good of the economy. Now that those chickens have come home to roost, Ramsey seems like a prophet. |
