"Our average student probably is as interested in knowing and understanding the laws regarding when and how they can carry firearms as anything else. Close behind handling and marksmanship, they realize the firearms use they see in movies or on television is not even close to reality.

Darwin (a K-9 dog) chased a 9-year old child, intending to inflict harm, when a security guard intervened. When Darwin shifted his attention to the guard, who, sensing the danger to his life, drew his service firearm and fired. Darwin died on the spot with a lone gunshot wound in the body.

Gado, the guard, had cried self-defense but he was disarmed nonetheless by the Boracay police, pending "further investigation," according to the spot report.

Every year during dove hunting season, Bogey's Golf Course is inundated with the sound of shot gun fire, loud enough to disturb the game of the most focused golfer.

New restrictions to the city's hunting ordinance being considered by the Waco City Council should take care of problems such as those at Bogey's Golf Course, which seem to pop up more frequently as the city increases in population, said Sgt. Jan Price, an officer with the Waco Police Department who proposed the changes....

The Federal Aviation Administration requires vehicle searches now because the short-term parking lot is within 300 feet of the airport terminal.

So... A man has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon after airport security workers found six loaded handguns in his car ...and... (OH) state law prohibits motorists from carrying loaded guns.

The USA Patriot Act, now passed and the law of the land, has eliminated the Constitutional guarantee of probable cause when investigating a crime, and now allows the police — at any time and for any reason — to enter and search your house, your files, your bank account — and not even tell you about it. As a result of this, America is longer America, but a police state, pure and simple.

Their worst fear became reality when Nancy E. Fitzgivens was beaten, choked and stabbed to death during a home visit. Nearly a month after the slaying, Fitzgivens' colleagues are beginning to speak out about the concerns they have for their safety.

A proposed ordinance that would ban weapon possession inside Ottawa County buildings is moving nowhere fast as officials await the state attorney general's opinion regarding its legality.

The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners Criminal Justice Committee discussed the ordinance, introduced in June, again Monday, but took no action in moving the ban forward. However, Commissioner Jane Ruiter of Spring Lake encouraged fellow commissioners to push the proposal.

A proposal from a Citizens Advisory Council going to the Board of Education shows the public firmly in the pro-gun camp on the issue of allowing Albuquerque Public Schools police to carry firearms.

The meeting concluded with an endorsement of board member Matthew Archuleta's proposal that would allow APS police to carry guns.

Rep. Ron Paul confirms rumors circulating in Washington that this sweeping new law, with serious implications for each and every American, was not made available to members of Congress for review before the vote.

"Maybe a handful of staffers actually read it, but the bill definitely was not available to members before the vote."

And why would that be? "This is a very bad bill," explains Paul ... efforts to obtain copies of the new law were stonewalled even by the committee that wrote it.

Last week, prosecutors cited the rarely invoked law in the case of a student being detained in New York, and hinted they might make fuller use of it in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.

With roots in laws that date back more than 200 years, the statute gives the government great flexibility in assembling prosecutions against people who plan but don't carry out criminal acts against the United States.

FRENCH authorities are being overwhelmed by "American-style" gun crime that has led to Paris being labelled "The Bronx on the Seine" by one newspaper.

Airline management's refusal to enhance security measures because they might hamper 'on-time' records is hurting the industry.

"Flight crews are routinely pressured by ground supervisors to cut short security briefings and checks," said Patricia Friend. "We are regularly told that the airlines will not take a delay because the crew wants to make sure the flights are safer."

Fairfield entrepreneur Clyde Cleveland officially declared his candidacy as Libertarian Party candidate for governor of Iowa.

In a Courier article last month, Cleveland outlined the theme of his campaign, "Paradigm Shift to Freedom." For more than 10 years, he was active in the elimination of federal income tax movement. Cleveland also supports the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
