"So what were the effects of the law? Actually, none whatsoever, it had nothing to do with Glocks. The minimum metal requirement was set at 3.2 ounces, less than a fifth of the metal contained in the then-controversial Glocks and significantly less than in any other gun. No congressional testimony linked the standard with any potential security breaches."
"The standard was picked precisely because it did not affect anything. No gun maker was hurt, while politicians pretended they were 'doing something.' Glocks are now-a-days common and one of the favorite pistols of American police officers. They are reliable and lightweight." |

"So, lest any of us put the cart before the horse, it’s not the 2nd amendment that gives us a right to own weapons and be proficient in their use – our status as human beings gives us the right to own guns. Rather, the amendment should merely encourage gun ownership and prohibit interference with it. Put another way, the only good the 2nd amendment could ever do is win lawsuits on behalf of you and me whenever the government tries to pass a gun law. And since the government routinely passes gun laws, the 2nd amendment isn’t good for much. Rely instead on your natural right to self-defense, and when California (or whoever) tells you to start registering weapons so they can come back in two years and confiscate them, the first thing to do is to go live somewhere else."
------- His answer to our eroding right to bear arms is to run away. I've never heard of this solution working! And what happens once each and every state becomes an oppressive tyranny like California or New York? Then what? |

" 'A lot of people ask me how I sleep, because of all the people who've been killed with my guns,' said Mikhail Kalashnikov, 84, the designer of the renowned AK-47 assault rifle."
"His light, inexpensive, virtually indestructible guns - 'they're like my children,' he said - long have been the weapons of choice for communist armies from Vietnam to China to Angola to Cuba. They've also been used by all manner of terrorists, freedom fighters, guerrillas and gangsters." ...
"'But it's not the designer's fault or the weapon's fault when terrible things happen - it's the politicians... It's because the politicians are unable to reach peaceful agreements. I must say I sleep quite soundly." |

"A little-noticed measure approved by both the House and Senate would significantly expand the F.B.I.'s power to demand financial records, without a judge's approval, from car dealers, travel agents, pawnbrokers and many other businesses, officials said on Tuesday."
"Traditional financial institutions like banks and credit unions are frequently subject to administrative subpoenas from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to produce financial records in terrorism and espionage investigations. Such subpoenas, which are known as national security letters, do not require the bureau to seek a judge's approval before issuing them."
"The measure now awaiting final approval in Congress would significantly broaden the law to include securities dealers, currency exchanges, car dealers, travel agencies, post offices, casinos, pawnbrokers and any other institution doing cash transactions with 'a high degree of usefulness in criminal, tax or regulatory matters.' "When Democrats like Bill Clinton nominate slime to the federal bench, it is the duty of Republican Senators to oppose such nominations. However, during the six of the eight Clinton years in which Republicans held a Senate majority, judicial nominations were well nigh a non-issue. While no spots on the Supreme Court came open, many district and appellate positions came open and were filled with nary a whimper from Republicans. These Republicans who rubber-stamped Clinton’s nominees are no better than Clinton himself." |

"The new slavery knows no boundaries such as race, creed, color, religious beliefs or sexual preference. It is the one system where we all are truly equal. The new slavery touches every corner of our lives. From the cradle to the grave we are tethered by the chains of regulation forged by our own government.
