"'The bullet, of Swiss origin, was still in its brass casing, complete with enough gunpowder for it to fire itself.'
-- U.K. Guardian Series"

"How does a bullet fire itself?"

"We are all familiar with the anti-gun rhetoric that prefers to hold guns responsible for crime rather than the criminal who commits the act. In the U.K., however, it's not just the guns that are to blame, it's the bullets, too. A single round of .22 caliber ammunition was found in a doorway recently in the United Kingdom which sparked a full investigation. Although there was no gun to be found, the single round of ammunition was considered dangerous and leaving such ammunition lying around is a crime." ...

"To gun owners still stinging after years of hearing anti-gun rhetoric from Bennett Republicans like Bob Taft, Betty Montgomery, George Voinovich and Mike Dewine, Bennett's realization about whom his party serves has come far too late. And comments about his inability to understand the source of Bob Taft's ultra-low approval ratings raise questions of just how much of a lesson Bennett has actually learned." ...

"Marjory Fagan stood motionless, slowed her breathing, stared ahead intently and then moved her index finger almost imperceptibly. Bang! Wincing slightly from the .22-caliber rifle’s recoil and piercing boom, she steadied herself, leveled the rifle and pulled the trigger again."

For Fagan, who is in her 60s, carries a designer handbag and lives on Manhattan’s fashionable Upper West Side, spending a Saturday at the shooting range was something different.
