... "That was all part of a well-planned and funded effort to expand 'action group' efforts to the states reported in this column, initially in July of 2013, and warned of again in December of last year because no one else seemed to be noticing. It’s hard to organize against developing threats if the existence of where they are and how they’re structured is unknown."

"Score this one as a victory for the judgment of the American people."

"For decades, anti-gun groups have been trying to scare Americans into getting rid of their guns, with the claim that you’re more likely to have a problem if you have guns in your home, than if you don’t. But whatever they’ve been doing all these years apparently hasn’t been working. Not only have Americans been acquiring guns at record levels, Gallup recently reported that 63 percent of Americans now believe that having guns at home makes them safer, nearly double the percentage reporting the same belief 14 years ago." ...

"Even as the Buffalo Police Department attempts to further explain its position on a new policy to seek out guns from the families of those recently deceased, gun rights advocates are blasting the agency."

"Under fire is the new directive by Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda ordering his officers to visit the homes of pistol permit holders who have recently departed to inquire about the former's handgun. According to the New York State Police, the administrator of a deceased’s estate has 15 days to lawfully dispose of a gun held on a pistol permit. ..."

"An on-line story at the Washington Post yesterday talks about new research that apparently pokes holes in the strongly-held opinion in the firearms community that more guns result in less crime, and it is sure to ignite some arguments."

"This research suggests just the opposite, the Post article, by Christopher Ingraham, suggests. Referring to the research by John Donohue, a Stanford law professor, Ingraham writes, 'The evidence suggests that right-to-carry laws are associated with an 8 percent increase in the incidence of aggravated assault, according to Donohue. He says this number is likely a floor, and that some statistical methods show an increase of 33 percent ... after the passage of right-to-carry laws.'" ...

Are Gun Control Laws in the U.S. Really Protecting Us?

"The gun control laws in the U.S. are unconstitutional and, instead of protecting us like they were made to do, are very hazardous. Gun control laws make it very difficult to be able to protect oneself in emergencies. This is very ironic considering gun control laws are made to protect us citizens. So for all the people who consider gun control laws as a safety necessity, have you ever thought about how you would be able to defend yourself when the police aren’t around and you have nothing to protect yourself with? Also, these gun control laws of ours are supposed to be righteous but instead are unconstitutional and violate our rights. ..." ...

"The first four articles in this series dealt with issues of philosophy and morality, even theology. It is now time to delve into issues far less lofty and divine, issues often fought in the muddy and fetid fever swamps of Washington D.C., which was actually built on swampy ground. As we have already established that the right to self-defense is a fundamental, unalienable right, a right not granted by government and therefore, a right which may not be infringed or taken away by government, it may seem odd to have to deal with politics in regard to that right, but such is the nature of man." ...

"It’s no secret that I didn’t like the Tac-Con 3MR trigger. It isn’t necessarily that it’s a bad egg — the thing functions as advertised — it just seems overpriced for what you get. They were asking $500 for a trigger that doesn’t do anything all that new, and came with no training materials or instructions on how to use it. Their PR guy’s response to the article wasn’t all that pleasant, but after a few conversations with the Tac-Con guys themselves, they invited me out to try out their latest creation. Tyler liked it. Colt Competition has done some pretty cool stuff recently, but Colt’s Manufacturing Co. hasn’t really come out with anything “new” in quite a while. The lone exception is their line of rifles based on the Colt 901, which is a cool design concept that didn’t seem to be well executed at all. "It isn’t often that a new ammunition manufacturer comes onto the market, and even more rare is one that makes claims as big as Eagle Eye. They don’t simply claim to be 'match grade' and then leave you gessing as to what that means, they print their guarantee right on the box: 1/2 MoA groups from every box of ammunition. It’s a bold claim, and they sent me home with a couple boxes of ammunition confident that the product will speak for itself. I put it through the standard ammunition testing that we do here, and the results are pretty cool." ...

"Governor-elect Greg Abbott has made no secret of his support of gun rights in Texas. In December 2013, Abbott created a 'We the People' petition, proposing legislation that would allow Concealed Handgun Licensing (CHL) holders to, at a minimum, openly carry holstered weapons, as well as allow concealed weapons on college campuses. He also made the protection and expansion of gun rights a cornerstone of his gubernatorial campaign ... Though a controversial topic, to Abbott, the issue of gun rights was settled in 1791 with the penning of the Bill of Rights. "Ohio is the only state where a person claiming self defense is considered guilty until they’re proven innocent. "We now have the Oregon State Police numbers for firearms purchase denials for Oct. 2014. Once again, they demonstrate what a colossal sham the entire process is."

"While these numbers are repeatedly used by politicians and anti-gun groups to 'prove' that background checks work, they prove exactly the opposite."

"Of the 19, 901 background checks run by the Oregon State Police in October, 196 sales were 'denied.' Wow, that’s 196 bad guys off the street. Maybe not."

"Of the 196 desperadoes denied, a grand total of 5 were 'arrested' or 'taken into custody.' ..." ...

"That many in our state vote on ignorance and emotional reaction is a given. Only in Washington/America can so many decry the 'evil 1 percent wealthy' and their power, yet vote dictated by the massive money from that 1 percent (Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Michael Bloomberg, et al) who supported Initiative 594."

"The gullible were told that Second Amendment rights were not infringed by I-594, that the law-abiding won't have difficulty."

"Did anyone notice RCW 9.41.090 being amended to require that dealers not deliver a pistol to anyone who does not show a valid concealed pistol license, regardless of their background check results?" ...

"It may be personally annoying that the University bans weapons on-campus, but they have a right and reason for doing so. Public safety on campus ultimately falls under their prerogative. This is a significant responsibility and necessitates tough decisions that are sure to offend some."

Submitter's Note: I might buy this argument if the administration were held responsible for any failure to protect the students they have disarmed.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
No human rights can exist without property rights. Since material goods are produced by the mind and effort of individual men, and are needed to sustain their lives, if the producer does not own the result of his effort, he does not own his life. -- Ayn Rand
