"The NRA's decision to file Seegars vs Ashcroft was clearly influenced by Parker vs DC. The timing (Seegars was filed shortly after Parker), combined with the NRA's infamous reluctance to defend the 2nd Amendment in court, is sufficient to imply a causal link and perhaps even some panic on the part of the NRA. They didn't want to lose, but if someone won, they had to be in on the win to keep their credibility." ...

"The ISRA is commending the Illinois General Assembly for overriding Governor Blagojevich's veto of an important homeowner protection bill. By a nearly 3:1 margin, the Illinois House voted Tuesday to override Blagojevich's veto of SB2165."

"Passed by wide margins in both chambers earlier this year, SB2165 is designed to protect homeowners from prosecution under local gun control laws should they use a firearm to protect their homes and families from intruders. Bowing to pressure from Chicago gun control groups, Blagojevich vetoed the bill this past summer."

"It's just one of four recent police impersonation cases in the Valley where people are suiting up with uniforms, equipment and cars that mirror the real thing. Phony officers have misused the public's trust to inappropriately touch a driver, rob residents, and in one case steal from other criminals." ...

Karnes had argued that the court should dismiss the case."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (42B.C)
