They met, as they have for a year now, to learn about handguns, practice firearm safety and shooting, and share some laughs as part of the year-old Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapter of the Northeast Kingdom.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro has a powerful message for straw purchasers: Buying a gun for someone else who legally cannot could cost you a life. Shapiro kicked off his anti-gun violence campaign at Dobbins Career and Technical Education High School on Lehigh Avenue Tuesday. He joined the Mothers in Charge group for the launch of an initiative by Operation LIPSTICK — Ladies Involved in Putting a Stop to Inner-City Killing — which aims to combat rising gun straw purchases.

Getting a good sight picture in low-light conditions with the open sights on most tactical rifles can be a daunting task. The iron sights on both AR- and AK-pattern guns are usually made of dark-colored materials, which are hard to pick up when the light level gets dim. The new Tritium Front Sight Post from TruGlo solves this problem from both the AR-15 and AK-style rifles.

The Florence County Board unanimously declared itself a "Second Amendment sanctuary," adopting a nonbinding resolution last week amid the support of dozens of residents. The declaration was, in part, a reaction to red-flag legislation once hinted at by President Donald Trump and strongly pushed by Gov. Tony Evers when he declared a special session to address gun violence.

In reality, there are a wide variety of chemical sprays used for self-defense. But for purposes of this article, I’ll be using “pepper spray” as a catch-all term. They work by projecting a chemical irritant—in the case of pepper spray: capsaicin, the substance that makes chilies spicy—onto the target. This, in turn, causes tears, pain, difficulty breathing, temporary blindness, and other unpleasant symptoms. |

A majority of Sarasota County commissioners on Tuesday was reluctant to adopt a controversial resolution proposed by a fellow board member to make the county a “Second Amendment sanctuary.” The symbolic resolution proposed by Commissioner Christian Ziegler would have declared “Sarasota County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary in order to preserve ... the rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America.”

A gun control organization recently struck a mighty blow against the National Rifle Association by cleaning up the trash outside the Second Amendment advocate's headquarters. Giffords: Courage to Fight Gun Violence announced on Twitter Monday that it had adopted the highway outside of the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. "We're picking up the trash in their front yard to send a message: Their days of playing dirty with our politics are over," the group tweeted.

Glock released the 43X and the 48 early in 2019 with a matte silver nPVD finish to the slide. Some of my friends joked this was too close to a Gucci Glock for their taste; I guess my New Jersey showed that day because I think the Silver versions are awesome looking pistols. Either way, this summer Glock released the 43x and 48 with a factory black nPVD finish to the slide that will soothe those with ruffled feathers by a silver Glock.

CBS News is reporting that “dozens of Colorado sheriffs are ready to defy” a new state gun control law when it takes effect in 2020 because they believe the statute—a so-called “red flag”/extreme risk protection order law—violates the U.S. Constitution.
The law, according to CBS, is modeled on language authored in part by Josh Horwitz, head of the anti-gun Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. He described it as “a temporary civil restraining order that allows family members or law enforcement to go to a court… before a tragedy occurs.” |

Winchester Power Points are one of the brand’s premium hunting products. This bullet features a soft lead tip and a notched jacket to create a very uniform level of expansion, while maintaining a very high degree of accuracy. This type of bullet is often referred to as a “standard” hunting bullet, because they use tried-and-true technology without any fancy (and expensive) features that some shooters may deem unnecessary.

When the Democrats who are seeking their party’s nomination to run against Donald Trump in 2020 start talking about guns, anyone who supports our right to keep and bear arms knows to be concerned. Of course, the details regarding how law-abiding gun owners will be targeted by whomever prevails to face Trump vary, depending on who is speaking. But every single one of them can clearly state how much he or she dislikes firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens, and what they will do to try to undermine the Second Amendment and our right to self-defense. |

It’s no secret that more and more women are using firearms to protect themselves, hunt and participate in shooting sports thanks to our Second Amendment freedoms. Today, there are more than 20 million female gun owners in America. This is a topic dear to my heart since I was raised on a Georgia farm where shooting and hunting were a part of life while growing up. My father was a farmer and, at one time in his life, a school teacher. |

If we start naming all of John Browning’s inventions, we’re going to be here a while so let’s just focus on the shotguns. It’s amazing how many of these century-old designs are not just recognizable but still a part of today’s varied shooting cultures. Auto-5s are still knocking birds out of the sky. Browning’s Superposed over/under shotgun and its derivatives remain beloved in the world of skeet and trap. The Winchester Model 1887 and 1897 are still being made as reproductions and are frequent companions of Cowboy Action shooters.

Escanaba High School students have a choice of many clubs to join — Robomos Robotics Club, Environmental Club, Key Club, Film Club — and now trapshooting. What is trapshooting? Trapshooting is one of three specific forms of competitive clay pigeon shooting. Clay discs, or “birds”, are hurled through the air at a speed of 42 mph. According to the Amateur Trap Association (ATA), it is a game of movement, action and split-second timing that requires the accuracy and skill of a person to repeatedly aim, fire and break the disc.
“Trapshooting is a sport where there are five stations and there is one trap host that is out front,” said Escanaba Trapshooting coach Bill Cobb. |

Mackinac Bridge tollbooth workers play an essential part in making sure traffic flows smoothly between Michigan’s two peninsulas.
But did you know they also keep track of how many deer cross the bridge during firearm season?
Each year, the army of workers use the unscientific process of counting deer on vehicles or asking drivers about their hunts to try and keep track of the amount of deer taken each season.
After receiving the information, they log it on an electronic device to keep track. Last year the deer count was about 3,300 deer, according to UpNorthLive.com.
“It’s something kind of fun and something the people like so that kind of adds to it,” Mackinac Bridge tollbooth worker Michael Saunders told the TV station. |
