Portland Oregonian Op-ed article by a member of Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws.
Many newspapers will print pro-gun op-ed articles if they are well written, thoughtful, and don't use inflammatory language that identifies the author as an "extremist".

Ok...good and bad. Scouts receive firearms training and how to execute search warrants? I'll bet no discussion of the 4th Amendment is here...
"The teens receive basic training on how to make traffic stops and arrests, execute search warrants, lift fingerprints and investigate crime scenes. Many Explorers also receive supervised firearm instruction with weapons provided by their sponsors." |

"The emerging picture is that Democrats would be far more willing to work with a George W Bush as President at the end of the fraught election process than Republicans would with Al Gore in the White House. "Mr Bush could walk into meetings with congressional leaders with no history or baggage, but Gore has a history," Dick Durbin, a Democratic senator from Illinois, said."
Even the Demos admit that Mr. Gore has a bad history! |

A professor's view of Carnivore.... It leaves a lot unsaid about the abuse "possibilities" of this system. It does question the problem of new technology outpacing current privacy laws....another point of view. |

"Robert Cook presents here a remarkable statistical analysis of the Palm Beach presidential ballot controversy that deserves serious investigation. He says that the controversial 19,120 Presidential race ballots at issue there were "destroyed by deliberate double-punching ballots in Palm Beach County FL with a 'second punch' for Al Gore or Pat Buchanan. (In 1996, an additional 15,000 Dole and Perot ballots were destroyed by double-punching presidential ballots in Palm Beach County, FL. *)" |

Some liberal bedwetter taking a swipe at Angel Shamaya and J.J. Johnson for telling it like it is. Purty funny that these two guys get mentioned long before the NRA does...and even more funny that the author of the article exhibits such profound lack of understanding of the issues surrounding the right to keep and bear arms.
I feel sorry for her. Send her a note and see if you can somehow reach through the thick skull... |

"The last time Travis Adams went to sleep, he awoke with two men standing over his bed, one with a baseball bat and another with a handgun."
"It’s no wonder Adams had nightmares throughout Saturday night, after he and his girlfriend were attacked, bound and robbed by four unidentified men."
"His adrenaline was still running high Sunday, he said. He wonders if he will sleep safely again." |

"A record 200,206 deer were killed by hunters while 12 hunting accidents left one hunter dead in the first two days of Wisconsin's 2000 gun deer season, officials reported Monday." ~~~~ That is a lot of deer, but populations in the state are at a very high level... |
