Gunfire, camouflage jackets and outdoorsmen of all ages all were signs Saturday that the Bay County Shooting Range is officially open and ready for business. The range celebrated its grand opening Saturday with marksmanship challenges, a sporting clays introduction and a Bay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team demonstration. Hundreds passed by throughout the day to check out the range and fire off guns.

Gun shop owners say sales in the Tri-State area surged before the Nov. 8 election, with fears that if Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton were elected president, she would enact new gun control legislation. As Clinton called for tighter background checks and restrictions on military-style weapons, people stocked up on everything from handguns to AR-15 rifles, in case she was elected. Three more people – including the grandson of a U.S. Congressman – were shot and killed in Chicago on Friday. Fifteen-year-old Jovan Wilson was in his home in Englewood when two other teenagers broke into the residence and began arguing with him – one of them shooting him fatally in the head. That’s according to police reports obtained by The Chicago Sun Times.
